Royal Wedding, and the Final Launch at Kennedy Space Center

April 29, 2011 a Day in History

Today is a day of great joy for the UK. Many Americans are also rejoicing in the celebration of the young prince getting married. The day is truly historical for several reasons. Closer to home in the United States preparations for the final launch at Kennedy Space Center have already begun. The weather may not hold out, but life at the Space Coast is abuzz.

Watching the Royal Wedding, you could certainly see the love and upbringing of Prince William and Kate Middleton. She so desperately wanted to please William and make him happy. She even asked him as much. Princess Dianna would have been very proud of the young woman William chose. You can see the same qualities in Kate Middleton that Dianna had. It was amazing.

The white bridesmaids' dresses were absolutely angelic on the young bridesmaids. I think the choice of white also demonstrated Kate is above petty jealousy and feels comfortable with herself. She is trying extremely hard to please the royal family and be the royal bride that everyone wants to see.

Everyone at Buckingham Palace excitedly waited for the kiss of the young couple. It was short and sweet and a great tribute to the traditions of the past. The young couple has certainly done a wonderful job slowly meshing the times of the new with the old.

Americans should be as thoughtful when it comes to changes. We just live in the moment and do not think of the consequences. That is what is happening with our economy and our way of life.

Florida is one of the worst states for foreclosures. Many people have lost their jobs and subsequently their homes. Today many more in the Space Coast area are looking to be in the same situation. They are losing their jobs. In such an uncertain economy many are leaving, while others stay to see the outcome. Kennedy Space Center is preparing for its last launch and all the visitors today will bring.

Schools along US 1 and in Brevard County have been asked to close early due to traffic. The President is supposed to come. Why is any one's guess. He was wishy-washy during elections and then, swayed to stay at putting Kennedy Space Center out of business after being elected. That hurts the economy more than he could have thought. Not only are people working at the Space Center looking at unemployment, but the tourism will dwindle and that will put even more people out of work.

Is the president coming to gloat? Does he want to make sure he accomplished his mission? Is he showing off his power? Is he making sure that everything is closed down? You really have to wonder about one's motive. As he is drinking his water out of plastic containers, I hope he realizes scientists at NASA invented it. Maybe he will realize the errors of his way. If not there is always the next election.

Today will definitely be a day in history. No one will be able to forget the hope Prince William and Kate brought to them today. No one on the Space Coast will ever forget the final takeoff.
