RPG Toolkit is a completely free and open source software program that lets you easily create RPGs on your PC. It's official website features downloads and community forums, tutorials, files, games, and even more.
In addition to a number of features, RPG Toolkit also features a dedicated scripting language, RPG Code, that allows users to build even more unique, customized games. Features of RPG Toolkit include easy object creation, animations, boards (also called maps in other programs), tilesets items, enemies, backgrounds and more. The default toolkit also includes a nice array of default tiles, characters, and other files.
Another great feature of RPG Toolkit is the ability to create EXE files which can be distributed to others. Game creators can share their games with others, either by selling them or giving them away. Because the game creation program is licensed under the GPL, game developers don't need to pay any companies royalties on their created games. In the end RPG Toolkit is an excellent, free, open source game development program that is great for any beginner to try out.
