R-Place in Wisconsin: Italian Food at Its Best
Neighborhood: Wisconsin Dells/Lake Delton
Wisconsin Dells, WI 53965
United States of America
After a long day of hustling around the Dells doing the "tourist stuff" and being outside all day, sometimes it's nice to take a break from the commotion and sit down at a nice sit-down restaurant. However, trying to decide which restaurant to choose is a choice all in itself. Questions from: do you want a large restaurant? small restaurant? Noisy? Quiet? Cheap? Expensive? These all are questions that come up. I have a great restaurant that makes all these questions simple.

R-Place is a small Italian restaurant located at 444 Wis. Dells Pkwy. So. Wisconsin Dells, WI 53965; on the main road down the road from the larger hotels. The experience starts from the time you pull up to the restaurant with the facade of the building in conventional Italian, almost taking you to Italy. It continues once you enter the front doors again with conventional Italian decorations surrounding the walls. It's a small restaurant with few tables, but this helps to keep the atmosphere simple and "homey." The price-tag per each meal is around $14/person seems rather steep, but you won't go away hungry or disappointed.

With each dinner ordered, each individuals receives homemade Minestrone Soup, Tossed Salad with Italian Dressing (both served family style, with refills), Bread and Seasoned Olive Oil, and Sherbet. The food is excellent and the service is absolutely wonderful. The servers are very personable and seem to thoroughly enjoy their job.

When I was there, the owners, including the chef came out to see how our stay had been, where we were from and how the meal was. If it was anything less than excellent, they would do what they could to accommodate their guests. According to http://www.rplacerestaurant.com/id1.html, the restaurant is family owned but originally started their restaurant experience in IL.

"...Don and Mary Kay Rich, opened the restaurant in 1995. After 26 years in the Chicagoland restaurant business, 22 of which were at Bimbo's Restaurant in Palatine, Illinois, Don brought his cooking expertise to our own restaurant.

Mary Kay has many restaurant duties, one of which is hostessing."

This is definitely a restaurant I would experience anyone who's staying in the Dells or even just passing through to go to at least once. Their hours of operation through Mid-May are as follows:

Hours through mid-May

"4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Fridays & Saturdays 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
WE WILL ALSO BE OPEN FOR: Christmas Break - December 26 thru New Year's Eve & Spring Break WE WILL BE CLOSED:

Easter, Thanksgiving & Christmas Days"

If you like Italian food, this is a place with some of the best of it. The service and personality they show makes this a top restaurant choice in my book. So swing over and let R-Place take you away from every day life for a few hours to a great experience.
