We need protective tariffs to build up good USA jobs, and an end to oil imports and oil wars. End oil now, let American ingenuity take over to build plug-in cars, a solar panel industry, and good manufacturing jobs.

Bailing out GMAC, unlike banks, isn't secured by real estate. Rather, we should require auto makers to sell plug-in cars; if you could buy one, it would more than pay for a rooftop solar system with the money you didn't spend on gas.

Hybrids that can't plug in get all of their energy, ultimately, from the gasoline pump. Unless the Electric car can plug in, it's no threat to the oil companies and no help in reducing our oil dependence.

Every fuel cell car depends on a battery and electric motor for traction power, but also depends on carrying a supply of Hydrogen gas. This is not a viable solution, considering what it takes to make the hydrogen.
