On February 1, 2011 the snow started falling in Jackson, Michigan. For several days before the National Weather Service had predicted Michigan along with many other states would be hit by the worst blizzard in history.

Michigan Wildflowers Hoary Vervain

Hoary Vervain is a Michigan wildflower that many Michiganders see but visitors to the state may easily miss. Hoary Vervain flowers from June to September but the flowering is short lived '" a clump will bloom all at one time.

Michigan Wildflowers the Cup Plant

No, it's not a Black-Eyed Susan and it's not a Daisy although the flowers of the Cup Plant are very similar to both. The Cup Plant gets its name from the 'cup' formed by the leaves where they attach to the stem of the plant.

Milkweed is a wildflower found in Michigan that has many uses and is grown commercially. Because the common variety grows well in dry soil, is resistant to pests, and is attractive the Milkweed is popular today in many gardens.

Kayaking on Clarklake
