Rubber Stamp Business: Choosing a Stamp Making Machine

If you plan to be in the rubber stamp making business, you should be aware of the several different options for stamp making equipment. Some are more expensive and more complicated than others, and there are even newer technologies that make the process even better, with more accurate and more variety in the stamps you are able to make.

Older machines tend to be cumbersome and time-consuming, using the same types of methods as older newspaper printing machines. These machines usually involve several step processes that take a lot of time for molding, pressing and cooling. Some older machines, like the negative-type variety, can make inaccurate or stretched out images or letters. The worst type of rubber stamp machine is the linotype machine, which uses molten lead in the stamp making process, a toxic and dangerous substance. These older, out of date machines might be cheap, but not worth the time and inconvenience, and replacement parts can be hard to find.

Modern rubber stamp machines are by far the better option. There are many companies selling a variety of well made and easy to use machines. Most new rubber stamp machines utilize computer technology to create quick and accurate stamps, some in as little as five minutes.

The newer machines use polymer-based materials instead of rubber, which is easier to work with and create images and letters on. These polymer materials are also cheaper than rubber, which makes the cost of each stamp go down. Your original investment will be higher, however, as these machines run in the hundreds, and sometimes thousands for the more advanced stamp machines. Also beware of hidden costs, like replacements ink, lamps, mounts and glues.

Modern rubber stamp machines can create nearly any type of lettering and images. One incredible benefit of these newer machines is the ability to create stamps from photographic images. Now you can turn your favorite pictures into stamps. This is a great way to make gifts for friends and family, or greeting and holiday cards. Or you can set up a booth in a mall or craft fair and sell these stamps to interested individuals, making the stamps while the customer waits.

If you are planning to enter into the rubber stamp making business, invest in a good, modern stamp making machine, utilizing this amazing new technology for your benefit and profit.
