Product Description
The Rubbermaid TakeAlongs Rectangle Containers are clear plastic. So it's easy to see what's inside without taking the snap on lids off. They come in 2 styles- divided and undivided. The undivided containers hold a whopping 4 cups, while the divided ones hold 3.7 cups. Both containers are "top rack dishwasher safe, microwave reheatable and freezer safe", according to the manufacturer.
Price and Availability
I found Rubbermaid TakeAlongs Rectangle Containers at my local Kroger store. A pack of 3 divided costs $3.89. The undivided containers are about 20 cents less.
Rubbermaid TakeAlongs Rectangle Containers are also available at Walmart. You can't order them from Rubbermaid.com. However, if you use the company link (see resources), you can find a store that carries them. You can also order them online at Amazon.com.

The Pros of Rubbermaid TakeAlongs Rectangle Containers
I've used the Rubbermaid TakeAlongs Rectangle Containers for several years now. They virtually last forever. They work great for storing and transporting food. The lids snap on tight so there's no worry about leakage. I even freeze food in Rubbermaid TakeAlongs Rectangle Containers for short periods of time until I'm ready to use it.
As for how much food they hold: as I said, the Rubbermaid TakeAlongs Divided Rectangle Containers hold 3.7 cups. The undivided ones hold 4 cups. I don't eat that much food at a meal. My guy likes "man-size" meals, though. So when I pack him a lunch, there's plenty of room in the Rubbermaid TakeAlongs Rectangle Containers. I like these large containers for myself because I can put soup in an undivided one and still have room for crackers if I want them. And when I pack a salad, there's plenty of room to stir it all together.
The Rubbermaid TakeAlongs Rectangle Containers are easy to store because they nest together with their lids in your cupboard. Another plus is, they are recyclable.
The Cons of Rubbermaid TakeAlongs Rectangle Containers
I recently bought a few more Rubbermaid TakeAlongs Rectangle Containers to replace a broken one. They do last and last. However, one of the bad things about these containers is, they can crack and break if you freeze food in them and drop them. It's happened a few times to me over the years. Sometimes the Rubbermaid TakeAlongs Rectangle Containers remained intact. Other times when I dropped one on the floor, the ends of the lid and the container cracked and broke off. Warning: the clear plastic becomes very brittle when frozen.
Another con about the Rubbermaid TakeAlongs Divided Rectangle Containers is, the divider doesn't reach all the way to the top. That means, if you have a rather runny or juicy food in one side, it will leak over to the other compartment if the container is tipped up.
Conclusion
Overall, I highly recommend using the Rubbermaid TakeAlongs Rectangle Containers. Other than the cons I noted, they're great food containers.

Post a CommentI recently purchased the Rubbermaid "takealong" containers. They are absoutly awful, impossible to secure. The tops are split. I will never buy another and will not recommend them to my family and friends.

I like anything Rubbermaid makes. Whenever I decide to purchase storage containers, I only purchase Rubbermaid products. Good review!
I like them.. I use them to make "TV dinners" from home cooked meals. I just cook the food and place the servings into each of the divided containers... like turkey, creamed potato and green peas.. and just make them up and freeze them.
