Rubbermaid TakeAlongs Review

Amy Brantley
I was recently shopping for storage containers, but didn't want to spend a lot of money. I also didn't want to purchase some cheap dollar store brand that wouldn't stand the test of time. While searching, I came across Rubbermaid TakeAlongs. I've been a fan of Rubbermaid products for years, but do have issues with purchasing some of their products due to the fact that they contain BPA plastic. Thankfully, this version of Rubbermaid was BPA-free. At a price of less than $3 for a package of four, I decided to give several different sizes a try. Would they hold up and be worth the money?

The set of Rubbermaid TakeAlongs I like best are the small snack sized containers with the twist on tops. These are the perfect size to measure out snacks. Being on Weight Watchers allows me to snack on the things I love, but I have to stick to the portion sizes. Instead of measuring out my snack each time, I use these containers to measure out four servings so that I have several snacks ready when I want them. Speaking of measuring, some of these containers even have measurement marks on the sides to make things even easier.

I was impressed with the sturdiness of these storage containers. They aren't as sturdy as some of the more expensive types of Rubbermaid, but they do their job. More importantly, they don't leak. I have purchased many brands of cheap containers that were not airtight and the lids would fall off. This is not a problem with this brand, even with the containers that have a snap on lid.

Of course, I also loved the fact that these containers can go in the dishwasher, freezer and microwave. Another great feature is that stack together so that they don't take up a lot of space. Best of all though, if these containers get stained they are inexpensive enough to throw in the recycle bin and buy more. This is great for those that often forget their containers are work or have children that leave them at school.

I would have to give these containers 5 out 5 stars. They are inexpensive, leak proof, airtight and dishwasher safe. What more could you ask for? I highly recommend checking these out the next time you visit your local dollar store.
