I lifted it out of the plastic, and the 4 nail basics, are set in a rose colored piece of plastic, that has a felt feeling to it.
There is a small pair of scissors that measures 3 inches in length. I thought that they would be perfect for taking to England with me. I would use them for the 3 weeks, and then throw them away. The blade is half an inch, and is curved.
When I opened them up there was a cheap feel about them. They made a rubbing noise when I opened and closed them.
If I am buying cheap, no brand products for $1, then I would expect this, but normally the name brand products from the Dollar Store, work as good as if I had paid full price.
I wanted to try them out, but didn't want to try them on hard nails. I swam 80 lengths of the pool, and my nails were soft, so I got out the scissors. I opened them to cut a small broken area on a nail, on my left hand. When I did, they didn't meet up, and I wasn't able to do it. I think I would have broken them if I had tried them on hard nails. This went into the trash can.
Next it was the tweezers. I lifted them out of the backing and cut the tape off, that was keeping them together. These too are so thin, that they are a joke. When you press them together the ends don't even meet up. I didn't bother to try plucking my eyebrows because this thin metal could have dug into my skin. This went the same way as the scissors.
The final 2 products were nail clippers. The small clippers that are one and three-quarters of an inch long, are thin, cheap, and nasty too. However, the larger ones, two and three-quarters of an inch long, are sturdy, and work great. They are as good as any other brand that I have used.
I thought I was getting 4 travel items for $1, but ended up keeping just one of them. I am not complaining, because that is still inexpensive, for nail clippers.

Good to know.
Sometimes you get what you pay for but at least you got the clippers.
oh man I got ripped on that exact set while in the US! Too funny! My eldest daughter loves those Dollar store chains. Did get a few good deals, but yeah... my experience was pretty much the same as yours with this. Rubbish.
Not everything is good in Dollar Store
Good info, we're always losing tweezers, too. Cheers :)
