Ruby Tuesday Review

I decided today that I was going to take my grandmother out for lunch at Ruby Tuesday in Morton. We try to get together often and try out new places. Ruby Tuesday has been in Morton for awhile and I have eaten there, but I have yet to review it.

We arrived right around noon to find that there was no waiting and plenty of empty tables. I thought that to be very interesting, since it was the height of the lunch hour. I didn't mind, because I wanted to be in and out of there in an hour. I had to bring my six month old along, so sometimes that's not always a pleasant experience for me, but she did well. The host, however, didn't even offer me a chair to put her car seat in. I had to sit her right on the aisle on the floor. I thought that had to be some kind of safety issue, but no one seemed to even care. It kind of unnerved me. I didn't want someone to trip over her.

Our waitress came right away, took our drink orders and paid no attention to the infant seat on the floor at her feet. She left without word about it. I opened my menu to see that it had changed for probably the tenth time since that restaurant opened. That's frustrating to me! I guess it's their way to keep things changing, but I don't like having to search through a new menu every time I go there. I wanted something light, since I'm dieting, so I decided on a turkey sandwich and their salad bar.

We waited what seemed like ages for the waitress to come back with our drinks. Finally, she took our order, and still didn't say a word about the baby at her feet. Finally, my grandmother spoke up and asked for a high chair. She looked annoyed at the request and walked off. She spotted the host and annoyingly asked him for the high chair. I got up to get my salad and saw him come with the high chair. I freak out when people pick up my baby without permission, but he did. He picked up her seat and put her in the high chair.

Our food came out fairly quickly, but our waitress was still very slow. I was disappointed at my sandwich. It looked like they just slapped store bought deli slices on a whole wheat bun. It looked like the kind of sandwich you'd get on an airplane. The fries were way too salty, I couldn't even eat them. I finally decided I was done and asked for a box...surprise, she took ages to get me a box, and again seemed annoyed at the request. It seemed she was trying to do everything at once, and that just makes service plain crap.

When she brought my box, she brought the bill. For the two of us to eat, it cost $24! I thought that was outrageous! Our drinks alone were $2.29 each. I had a diet and my grandmother had hot tea, and with the hot tea, she was only allowed to take two tea bags!

Again, it took her forever to come get the bill and then to make change. I was so ready to get out of there.

Overall, I'd give this experience 2 out of 5 Tiaras on the Amy Gayle Scale. The only people that were remotely helpful and kind were the host and the man that brought the food to our table. The food was blah...definitely not worth the cost!
