The three men, wearing white button up shirts and black ties, were carrying canvas signs with a message "Investigate 911" in large black lettering. As soon as the men stood up with their signs onlookers began to scream "Sit down!" to show their dissatisfaction for the tasteless protest.
Within a minute, secret service agents were pushing the three men as quickly as they could out of the stadium of the Cox Convention Center and into the lobby. They were assisted by the Oklahoma City Police as well to ensure there were no more hidden protesters. As soon as the men were pushed into the lobby the crowd cheered in approval.
Giuliani, who was giving a speech for the Get Motivated Business Seminar, may not have seen the protesters, although he did notice the commotion from the crowd. It's unclear if the three men were arrested or simply ejected from the convention center. Employees of the convention center who noticed the men being brought out were unable to verify if the men were placed under arrest.
The Oklahoma City Police were obviously disgusted but the display, with one female officer being overheard saying "This is ridiculous." With Oklahoma being a strongly republican state, it's rare to see protests or stunts of a political nature. While the Oklahoma City Police may not be used to such outbursts they handle the situation swiftly and with little incident.
The Get Motivated Business Seminar is a traveling show created by Peter Lowe and his wife Tamara Lowe, and takes some of the top leaders from around the country to different locations to motivate and inspire professionals and business leaders. Other appearances at the seminar included Colin Powel, Steve Forbes, Joe Montana, Laura Bush, and head coach of the University of Oklahoma football team Bob Stoops. While the seminar is meant to motivate, it's also used to sell further products such as real estate tips, ecommerce classes, and debt management solutions.
I attended this seminar, held June 30th 2009 at the Cox Convention Center, in Oklahoma City.
