Let rules be looked upon in these manner. One thing is the breakdance and the breakdancer. This means that breakdance is an art and the breakdancer is the artist. Another is that competing with another breakdancer is a good idea all together. Competition will make the dancer more refined in his or her art and will eventually boost his or her self-esteem. These two concepts will make the breakdancer understand the dance very well.
Here are rules that make breakdancing an artistic thing to do. First of all is that you should be a true blue breakdancer. It means that a dancer should give the highest regard to breakdancing as an art not as the vehicle to impress people by showing off those moves which only make him or her a stupid person towards the end. Second is that the dancer must at least know his or her ground-work before competing with other breakdancers. Let it be a reminder that even though a dancer possesses great moves but missed out on that element, the dance will only become useless. Third is that a breakdancer should possess originality and creativity. Being creative and possessing originality will make you stand out from other breakdancers. Finally never imitate or copy from another. It is not a good idea altogether copying the moves of another dancer in such a way of showing off the move.
Here are other rules concerning competition among breakdancers. First is knowing the battleground. Breakdancer at all times should be prepared to compete with other breakdancers whether in a smooth tile of the mall, a rough surface of the street, or in some cases in rooftops of houses. Second is that wearing a helmet when executing a head spin or some moves that involves the head is not a shame thing. Remember that wearing a helmet will only make the dance nice and easy and at the same time make it safer for the dancer. Another is that a breakdancer must at all times stay with the rhythm. Even though he or she dances a fast music or a slow one, the beat of the dancer's movement must not differ. Finally is that a dancer must learn the value of respect. Even though he or she loses, the value of respect must not left him.
In summary, these rules make the dance more organized and more expressive. Artistry is being expressed if these guidelines are followed. Also, by learning these rules breakdance is better understood. Finally, breakdance becomes a respectable form of art.

Post a CommentContinued; and finally, breakdancing is called b-boying. You lose much credibility if you don't even mention this, trying to fix what mainstream media has coined an term that is incorrect.
There are many, many things wrong with your article. Firstly "true blue Breakdancer". True blue refers to being Aussie, and has nothing to do with breakdancing.
Secondly, although copying other moves is looked down upon and is refered to as biting, you can't never copy or imitate others. All the foundation works, the toprocks and powermoves are all copying 'others'. Imitating others is how we learn. First we must learn the foundations, and only then can we strive for originality.
Thirdly, breaking on rooftops? Seriously what the hell?
Fourth, yes it is good to hit the beat and all, but to think that is all to the dance is wrong. Listening to the music doesn't mean just heating the beat, as the music usually has many layers, from vocals, to instrumentals and the beat, each with distinct rhythms and attributes. A good dancer will know how to hear these aspects and can dance to, or hit as you say, any or all aspects of the music depending of what he or she feels like.
