Rules and Restirictions Your Child Must Follow when Playing Online Games
Several Limitations that Should Apply to Your Child While They're Playing Online Games
Your child should be given a time limit
Playing games online can be especially addictive to children and if you allow your child play online games without having a set time limit, they'll likely waste their childhood away at the computer desk. It's important to set a specific amount of time that your child can play games online, make sure that your child understands the agreed upon time, and enforce the time that has been agreed on.
Gaming content should be limited to the ESRB ratings pertaining to your child's age
ESRB ratings are industry-adopted guidelines that determine what concepts, situations, and content are appropriate for certain age groups and while you might allow your child to stray a little from their assigned ESRB rating from time to time, it's probably in your best interest to not stray too far from the ESRB ratings too often. Sticking close to the ESRB rating that pertains to your child's age will help shield your child from concepts and content that might be too explicit for their age.
Parental limits should be set up for explicit websites and popups
While allowing your children to play games online, it's not only important to monitor the types of games that they are playing, but also the types of websites that they are able to join. The internet can be a very explicit place to allow your children to roam around all "Willy Nilly" and there are lots of software applications that provide parental control over your child's internet browser.
Limit the gaming sites that your child can play on
The internet is filled with free gaming sites and before you let your child scour the internet for free gaming sites, its best that help your child select gaming sites that will be appropriate and virus free. Virus authors are hip to the fact that adults are well aware of virus scams and have opted to try and scam children into installing viruses on your computer. By monitoring and authorizing your child's favorite gaming websites, you'll make sure that their favorite sites are virus free and don't contain malicious software that may be inappropriate or harmful to your child.
