No multitasking while driving
We are a nation of mutitaskers. It seems like we are always doing two or three things at once. Yes, this may get things done quicker. However, it can make driving dangerous if you are multi-tasking at the same time. What are the major multi-tasking that is being done while driving:
• Eating/drinking legal beverages
• Talking on the phone, rather it is from a handset or earphones
• Playing with the radio
• Playing around the children, stopping fights, arguing, etc.
• Looking at passengers instead of the road
Reaching for unsecured items
Items such as purses, phones, and other objects can distract drivers. Distraction can lead to accidents.
Trying to read your GPS
Purchase a talking GPS that will tell you when it is time to turn. This will allow you to keep your eyes on the road, where they belong
Forgetting to look around you
Drivers must scan all directions. Don't just concentrate on the road ahead of you. Know what is beside of you and what is behind you as well. This can help you avoid an accident and problems.
Drive like you want your child to drive
Remember your children are watching you. Someday they will be drivers. Who will they use as a role model? They will mimic how they have seen you drive. If you remember this each and every time you are driving, you will learn to become a better driver just by knowing they are watching or could be watching.
Consider taking a drivers class
Just because you have your driver's license, doesn't mean you shouldn't take a driver's class every so often to update your skills. There are many classes available to help teach drivers how to improve their skills and how to drive safer in bad weather. If you are looking for such a class, check out drivingskillsforlife.com which is operated by Ford.
Nobody is a perfect driver. Anyone can get in an accident. Once you remember these two facts and once you begin to try to avoid as many distractions as you can while driving, the more prepared you will be to actually drive on our city streets and highways.

Very true.
This is a must read for anyone who drives! Well done Linda!
Sterling work and advice, especially about taking a drivers course. I really liked the multi-tasking no-no's of driving. My wife and me took a class and saved us 5% on our car insurance...no, not Geico either! LOL
Great commonsense reminder! Thanks.
it is a shame that drivers need to be reminded of these! but thanks for posting :)
Must read for all drivers to think twice about.
Great reminders.
Good advice--Texas drivers sure don't follow it though!
