RUMOR: Dallas Cowboys Potentially Trading Roy Williams for Chad Johnson

Russell James
Well Rumors began on an ESPN Radio broadcast about a possible trade between the Cowboys and Bengals. The Deal would be:

Roy Williams for Chad Johnson

If it is true and the Cowboys manage to pull it off then the Cowboys receivers would look like this:

Terrell Owens
Chad Johnson
Terry Glenn
Patrick Clayton

oh and a little pro bowl Tight End: Jason Witten

Hands down the most potent offense in the NFL.

Losing Roy Williams would be a hit to the defense. He struggles with pass coverage, but he plays the run well and he is a character guy. There is few NFL players with the character of Roy Williams. The Cowboys definitely take a hit to the character of their team though. With the recent rumors of PacMan Jones heading to Dallas, the addition of Tank Johnson and now Chad Johnson, the overall character is at an all time low. To be fair, Terrell Owens and Chad Johnson's problems are more-so on the field and not going to strip clubs and shooting people.

Who knows how true this rumor is.

Roy Williams is a joke and is not the roy williams out of oklahoma. this guy is poor in coverage and cant even chase a player down to make a clean tackle. this trade will not happen straight up

With all that mouth receiving (Owens and Johnson), Dallas will not want for soap opera material. What the hell is Jones doing?

As far as the draft is concerned we need a running back and I know this might sound off the wall but I don't think Felix Jones is the answer.
He was a second guy kind of like Barber was at Minnesota which so far has turned out well for us becaue Julius Jones was in being modest TERRIBLE!
With our offensive line and its size I think we should get Mike Hart.
Now call me off the wall but he does remind me in some ways of Emmitt Smith coming from a great program such as Michigan and as Emmitt did from Florida and also we could get Hart in the late second or even third round or maybe even later.
Also we need to draft a corner what about Cromartie if he is their if we keep both picks in the 1st round.
I know I have been hearing Mike Jenkins and we do need someone to cover Plaxico but we need someone to cover the rest of the great receivers in the league too.
A back up quarterback is a must too because if for some reason Romo goes out for a game or so and Brad Johnson has to be the star

It would be the greatest addition for the Cowboys since Deion Sanders or Charles Haley back in the Super Bowl days to have Chad lining up opposite of T.O.
The reality is that the Bengals are not going to trade Johnson no matter what the rumors are and they would be completely off their rocker to trade a top 5 receiver in the league for a washed up safety who is more known now for illegal hits and penalties than his defensive prowess.
I personally would love to get rid of Roy Williams because if we want to get to the Superbowl we need a definitive upgrade over Terry Glenn because who knows what we will get with him or even if he is going to participate this season.
Patrick Crayton is not a second tier receiver he is definitely more third tier and although had a decent year last year what had he done up until that point?
I watched every game last year and teams picked out Roy Williams on the field and threw in his direction because he couldn't cover anybody including you, me, and du

Zach Thomas is going to improve the Cowboys quite a bit. He is consistent, great work ethic and like someone already said, a character guy.

Crayton should be a number 3 receiver. I don't think he is a great number 2.

I would draft Jonathon Stewart late in the first round. He reminds me of Emmitt Smith, except faster.

I think if dallas doesnt move roy williams out for chad85, then move him into the linebacker position and move henry to safety spot, it would work roy can can still hit and stop the middle, now for chad85 i would like for dallas to offer the bengals a 2nd round this year and our 1st round next year, cause we need felix jones to complete our rb game. then draft a reciever to be molded for later seasons, then corners in later rounds. Or trade roy for another teams 1st round this year.....i wish. We have o.k recivers now T.O , crayton, glenn, hurd, austin and hopefully a healthy isiah stanback. Adding pacman would add crucial depth to our aging corner position, he's awesome when he's not in trouble, plus he knows this is his last chance. This has to be our superbowl year, if Romo doesnt produce in the postseason we better call Bledsoe back, or use brad johnson....he won a superbowl. If that JINX jessica simpson shows up anywhere near a game security should escort her out. We have the rig

If the trade went down it would be picture perfect. we would have a guarentted star reciever instead of gambling on someone in the draft. we could get kenny phillips possibly at 22. he is a big hitter and he came from the U and we all know that the former Hurricanes who are in the NFL can play some football.

Ok people the bengals first of all will not trade Chad Johnson for Roy Williams. Are you guys nuts. If i was the Bengals GM there better be a 1st round pick attached to Roy for me to say ok lets do it. And second of all, durr45 HE HAD A PRO BOWLER NAMED KEN HAMLIN playing next to hime along side another man named TERENCE NEWMAND and I beleive before ANTHONY HENRY got hurt he was leading the NFL in INTS. And he has the best LB corp maybe in all of football playing infront of him with ELLIS AND DWARE, and a young juvenated defensive line. Really Roy cant ask for a better defense to play with. Roy is going anywhere the only way he will be gone is if he is traded but knowing Jerry Jones he isnt ready to take a 6 million dollar cap hit. THey just resigned him to a big extension a year or two ago. CMON PEOPLE THINK

  • RaDavius4/20/2008

well i think the dallas cowboys want chad just as bad as we want a superbowl.but it aint gon happen, but if it does man we goin to da ship 4sho

  • durr454/20/2008

respect to all who voice there opinions but the ones who want roy out...why? the years he had bad stats with the exception of this yr...he had no1 playing alongside of him or infront of himexcept newman n he still put up decent numbers.....now i will say this if we do get pacman n he get reinstated n we draft someone like kenny phillips id be ok with it whether we move henry or not...but id still be skeptical about it...it be freakin sweet to get chad...n the ppl who say 85 n to cant coexist...ur wrong...they r friends n they both want to win they have both matured as players n know they r towards the end of their respective careers n some might doubt the trade b/c 85 is "old" well jj wants to win NOW!!!...hes a smart man hell figure something out later down the rd to replace the older guys but he wants to win n dont u? bottom line we will this year n we'll win big!!!
