Rumored List of Players in Mitchell Report
The Mitchell Report is slated to come out today and there is a rumored list of the players that may be involved in the steroid problem in baseball.
Some questions that are being raised about this report before it gets to the media are:
Are there any star players? According to the rumored list there are several star players from this era and from the nineties in the report. They Include:
Barry Bonds
Roger Clemens
Jeff Bagwell
Nomar Garciaparra
And more
Are there any Red Sox players on the list? (George Mitchell is employed by the Red Sox) The answer to this from the rumored list is yes. There are numerous past Red Sox players on the list and there is one current player on the list Jason Varitek. The Red Sox Players (past or present) on the rumored list are:
Manny Alexander
Johnny Damon
Jose Canseco
Carl Everett
Paxton Crawford
Roger Clemens
Nomar Garciaparra
Jeremy Giambi
Clay Hensley
Guillermo Mota
Trot Nixon
Jose Offerman
Mo Vaughn
Jason Varitek
Eric Gagne
Dante Bichette
Rich Garces
Julian Tavarez
Now beyond those two big questions not much else can be answered. It is not known what else George Mitchell's report has in store for us, but it seems as if the lists of rumored names on the report are anything but surprising.
Brady Anderson formerly of the Orioles has been rumored for years, as has Barry Bonds, Juan Gonzales, the Conseco and Giambi brothers, Matt Williams, Kerry Wood and about half of the list all together. No one should really be surprised by any of these names being in the report as we have all known for a long time their potential involvement.
Other players are a little more surprising to be named in the rumored list of the names on the report. Red Sox captain Jason Varitek is one who is a surprise on the list. Also Johnny Damon, Andy Pettite, Eric Gange, Albert Pujols, Brian Roberts and the late Darryl Kyle.
The fallout from this could be great. There are a number of star players in this rumored list and if they are on the report they could face suspensions or just a tarnished image. The Yankees alone could have several key players next year set to miss the first quarter of the season. These players include Andy Pettite, who just signed a new, one-year deal and Johnny Damon.
We will not know what is truly in the Mitchell Report until it comes out later today and there is a chance to look over what is inside but I will leave you with the complete list of players rumored to be in the Mitchell Report (in alphabetical order):

Post a CommentThis is the RUMORED list and not everyone on it is on the actual Mitchell Report which by the way is a GREAT waste of taxpayer money(the congressional hearings, Mitchell is retired).
You people should actually read before you comment. Ridiculous.
I'm guessing you wrote this before the actual report came out, which is unfortunate because some of your information is off. And I'm with the other poster who pointed out Bonds is sort of old news; he's already been indicted, so for that to have been part of the title (which it was when I clicked through the link on the front page) is a sort of moot point.
Bonds is not a 'rumored' user - he was a user and that documentation has been on the books for a long while now. That the list grows ever longer is not a shock. I hope it helps people pu what has become of professional sports into a more healthy perspective.

MLB is not my sport of choice, but the article was good. It's a shame that athletes feel they have to do this, when they are talented to start with. Stats aren't everything. What happened to the thrill of the game?
;-) great article :-)
Baseball is wasting time monitoring all players for steroid use. If these fools want to destroy their health by using dangerous drugs, that's their problem!
varitek was not in the actual report, these are only rumors. All of this information came out before the report was even released
I think this is terrible
Ok, so reading through the report, Varitek is not in there at all. Nomar is not even mentioned. Unless people are looking at a different Mitchell report, I don't know what you are looking at.
