Rumors of Maple Syrup Vanishing Increases Prices

JenniLee
It has now been reported that our beloved maple syrup could possibly disappear from America. The majority of maple syrup comes from Canada, and now many of the sugar and maple companies are saying that the Canadian reserves have been exhausted. People in America now worried they won't get to see or afford their sweet treat from Canada much longer. The maple trees that create the sap that we turn to syrup are being highly affected by climate change, causing the sap not to be produced by the trees for as long as it should be.

There are ups and downs about the "green" aspect of maple syrup, some would assume it is very environmentally friendly due to the fact it saves trees from being logged, which is true, and these trees remain unharmed. However, many people do not consider or even realize that it takes over 40 gallons of sap to be boiled just to create one gallon of maple syrup, thus using a mass amount of gasoline. There are things you can do in your everyday life such as recycle and drive less to avoid this climate change we are causing and save not only our maple trees, but the entire world for our children and grandchildren.

Prices for maple syrup make few happy. The increase in some maple syrups have gone up as much as 70% in costs, leaving the only ones happy are the ones working to create it, having a increase in income. Although if the prices get too high and the syrup amounts get too low or vanish, no one will have business or syrup.

Several are talking about this some skeptical if this is just for the money or not, either way the prices show something is up. Many assume the prices have not gone up and everything is fine with the stocked shelves at the stores, however if you look closer at most maple syrups, read the ingredients and many have zero maple in them at all, just corn syrup. True maple syrup is a much richer and much more pleasant taste. So in the end let's try to save the little things such as maple syrup by doing our part in the environment before the bigger things start to vanish.
