Now you are asking yourself, where in the world do I start? The answer to that is quite simple: get out the door. All it takes to start running is a good attitude and some motivation. If you can convince yourself that you are going to set aside time each day to exercise, whether it is ten minutes, a half hour, or even an hour, you are heading in the right direction.
Once you have decided just how much time you have to exercise, you need to decide how fast you want to start. The best advice I can give you is to take it easy. Weight loss does not come overnight, taking it easy and enjoying your workout will make it go by even faster. Whether you walk or run a mile, you burn the same amount of calories no matter how fast you do it, so why not do it at a pace that you can handle?
At first the word "run" may seem pretty daunting. If you are intimidated by this word, don't worry, you are not alone. Many people feel as though you need to be sprinting down the street in order to be running, this however is not the case. As a beginning runner, my advice for you is to start by running for 1 minute. Once you have run for a minute, walk a minute. If after a minute of walking, you feel ready to go, then run for another minute. Keep this alternating style up until you have completed your set amount of time. Weight loss is going to happen regardless of how fast you go, if you are moving than you are burning calories and that's all it takes.
If alternating walking and running isn't for you, and you want to jump right in to running, that is alright too. Remember that you should start out very easy, if you aren't able to keep a conversation going during this time, you are going to fast. While you are running, keep in mind that you don't need to breathe every step. Tell yourself to relax and maintain a steady pace.
The beauty of running for weight loss is that you don't need anything to do it except a good pair of shoes and a great attitude. In order to be running in the best type of shoe for your body, head over to your local running store. The employees will be more than happy to put you in a pair of shoes that meets your exact needs.
Running or jogging to weight loss is a beautiful thing. How many diets out there only require that you have shoes and a smile? The fact is, daily exercise is good for you, and if you stick to your plan and stay regular you will see results. Loads of diets have come and gone throughout the years, there must be a reason why people have been out of the roads for decades, try it out.
