RuneScape: Farming Guide

Farm Without Getting Bored

Kara Kelso
Farming is a great skill, but many give up on it quickly because it's so boring. You don't do a thing but sit and wait for crops to grow. Or do you?

There are several skills that are easy to do while you are waiting. Depending on the area you decide to farm around, you could be working on any number of additional skills.

Farming in Catherby

- Fishing & Cooking
Here you can work on three skills all at the same time, and this is the most popular option when waiting for crops to grow. No matter what your fishing and cooking level, you can easily do this here.

- Wood Cutting
Catherby also happens to sit in the middle of a woods with several different types of trees. There's an oak right next to the farming patch, willows down by the fishing area, yews near the willows, and maple trees near Camelot Castle.

- Fire Making or Fletching
If you are already working on wood cutting, you can use those logs for fire making or fletching. Don't ever burn your yews because they are worth way too much. Stick to burning maples, willows, or oak if you want to level firemaking. Either sell the yews on the general market or keep them for fletching.

Farming outside Ardougne

- Mining
If your mining level is too low for the mining guild, use the coal and iron rocks near the farming patch outside of Ardougne. As a general rule, once your inventory is full and you bank, it's time to check the crops.

- Thieving
If you are farming right now, chances are you are going to need some seeds. Luckily there is a master farmer just north of Ardougne near the farming patch. You can also go into town to steal from the stalls, knighs, or paladines depending on your thieving level.

- Range or Magic
There's a nice spot in front of the Ardougne castle to range or mage paladines. Just stand behind the poles. Try not to kill the NPCs in the market area - people are most likely pickpocketing them and do NOT want them dead.

Farming outside Faldor

- Cooking
There's a milking cow and butter churn right next to the farming patch outside of Faldor. If you need cream, butter, or cheese for cooking, this is a good way to kill some time.

- Thieving
If you want to run down to Draynor Village while you wait, there is a seed stall and master farmer down here. While it's a bit of a walk, it's probably your best option because you'll need more seeds to farm. You can also pickpocket the guards in Faldor, but those don't stay living for long so it's a bit annoying.

Farming outside Port Phasmatys

This one is a bit more boring, as there's just simply not much to do over here. Unless you want to run into Canifis to level strength, attack, or defence by killing stuff in town.

Farming here might be best if you are in the middle of a slayer assignment near by.

See, farming doesn't need to be boring. You don't have to sit and watch crops grow. You can leave for short periods of time checking on them every few minutes. Doing farming this way makes it go a whole lot faster!
