Runescape: A Guide to Dragon Slayer, a Free to Play Quest

This is the longest quest you will complete in Runescape's free to play quests. Before you can start this quest you must have a total of 32 quest points and have membership in the Champions guild. You will need to prove that you are a true hero to be able to wear a rune plate body and green dragon leather body. You will want to do this quest since these bodys complete the best armor set available for free to play melee and range combaters. Your mission is to defeat the dragon on Carndor Island, a level 83 green dragon.

You will need to make 90 steel nails, find three planks from the wilderness, a hammer, 2000 to 12,000 gold coins, one unfired bowl, a lobster pot, a piece of silk, a wizard mind bomb, the runes to cast the spell telegrab, and any food, armor, weapons you will need to defeat the dragon. You can collect these items before beginning the quest if you want to try and save some time.

To start the quest you will need to go to the Champion's guild which is just south of the city of Varrock. You will want to talk to the guild master about rune plate armor and he will tell you to go talk to an armor seller near edgeville named Oziach. Once you find him you will have to talk to him about rune plate armor, anti dragon shield and pieces to a map. After you are done talking to him you should have received a key to "Melzar's maze"

Now you will need to go to the oracle who is sitting on the mountain above the dwarves mines. If you haven't already gathered your items you will need to take a few of them with you to see the oracle. You will need a piece of silk from the Varrock clothes shop or silk seller's stall in Al Kharid. You will need a Wizard's mind bomb which you can buy from the Falador bar it will be a blue drink. You will need an unfired bowl which you can make by mining some clay ore and adding water. Then you will need to spin the soft clay on the pottery wheel in Barbarian village. Lastly you will need to bring a lobster pot which you can buy at the fishing store in Port Sarim. Now when you talk to the oracle she will tell you that there is a door in the mines that will help you with your quest. Just go to the trap door and climb down and head to the east part of the mine. Now when you go through the right door all of the items in your inventory will disappear and you will find the chest. In the chest will be a map piece.

Now you will want to grab some food and a weapon from your bank and take the maze key with you. Head out to the maze which is just south of the crafting guild. Use the key to get into the building and kill the rats until you find a red key. Use that key on the north west door and go up the ladder. Now you will have to kill ghosts until you get an orange key use it on the door second from the north. Make sure you go through the right door. Now you will want to kill skeletons until you have a yellow key and use it on the most south western door and go down the ladders. When you see zombies you will want to kill them until you get a blue key and use it on the north west door. Kill the character named "Melzar" until you get the magenta key, proceed through the next door. Now you will have to kill the lesser demon who will drop the last key. Take the green key and use it on the door. Make sure you check the chest and get the second piece of your map.
Now you will need to find the third piece of the map you will need to go back to a bank and get either runes or a bow and arrows to kill the next map holder. You will also need to bring 10,000 gold coins or the runes to cast the spell telegrab to retrieve the map piece. Now that you have everything you will need head over to the jail at Port Sarim. If you cannot telegrab you will need to talk to the prisoner named "Wormbrain" and he will sell you the piece of the map for 10,000 gold coins. If you can telegrab kill the prisoner named "Wormbrain" through the bars of his cell. Now take the map piece if you can telegrab. Use all three map pieces on each other to form a complete map.

Now you need to head over to Lumbridge and talk to the Duke Horacio he is in the Castle. You will need to ask him for a shield to protect you from the dragon. He will give you an orange Anti-dragon shield.

Now you will need to bank again. You will need to pick up 2,000 gold coins, your hammer, three Planks, 90 steel nails, and then the completed map. Go back to Port Sarim and head to the dock just east of the food store. You are looking for a guy named Klarense. Talk to him until you are given the opportunity to buy his ship. He will tell you the price so you can buy it from him. Finally you will need to go on board and go down below the deck. You are looking for a hole, use your planks on the hole until it is fixed. Talk to the sailor on your ship and then head back to the dock.

Now to find a Captian for you ship just head off to the village of Draynor. There you will find Ned and if you talk to him you can get him to Captian your ship just give him the map and you will see him again later at the ship. Before you head back to the boat you will need to pick up all of your items you will need to fight the dragon. Bring enough runes to teleport back. Double check that you have everything you will need since this will be the last time you can access a bank. Now go back to the ship and go below deck to talk to Ned. When you get to the Island you will be ship wrecked on shore so get off the ship and head up to the very peak of the Island. You will go past scorpions and lesser demons until you reach a cave opening. Go into the opening and walk through the door to the Dragon. Turn on your prayer and drink any potions now. Eat when you need to so that you don't die and make sure your anti dragon shield is equipped. When you beat her you will be taken outside of her cage. Now teleport back to town.

After you have slain the dragon you will have completed the quest congratulations! You can now buy a rune plate body or your green dragon hide range armor. You can find them at the store outside of Edgeville at Oziach's house. A rune plate body will cost 84,500 gold coins and a green dragon hide body will cost 10,400 gold coins. As a reward you will gain two quest points plus 18,650 experience points in both strength and defense.
