Runescape: A Guide to Witch's Potion, a Free to Play Quest

To start this quest you will need to talk to Witch Hetty, because you will need to help her make a potion to increase your magic experience points. She is in the small town of Rimmington. Before you head out to start the quest you will need to bring three coins with you since Rimmington does not have a bank. The Witch will ask you to gather for her four ingredients that she will need for her cauldron. The items you will need to gather for this quest are an onion, a piece of burnt meat, one Eye of Newt and a rat's tail.

First you should get the onion. They are in the field that is just northwest of Rimmington. They look like white little plants in rows on your mini map. When you find yourself in the field, pick one and it will appear in your inventory.

Next you will want to make a piece of burnt meat. In order to make this you will need to kill an animal either a rat or a bear or a cow. The closest of course is the rat and it is very easy to kill. Then the second closest animal is a cow, these can be found just outside of Falador's southern gate behind the farm. Then the furthest animal is a bear, you can find these on the outside of the northern Falador gate. As for killing a monster with ease the general rule is if your combat level is at least double its combat level you shouldn't have a problem killing it. Every monster and animal becomes non aggressive when you are twice its level. Which means that if you are in an area with a certain monster or animal it will not attack you, unless you attack it first. To find a rat you will need to head out east of Rimmington. When you kill the rat you will need to click on the raw meat and bones in order for them to appear in your inventory. Bury the bones for some prayer experience points. Now head back west to take the raw meat back to Rimmington. You will need to go into a house that has a range in it. In order to cook the meat you will first need to click on it and then on the stove top. If it is not burned just repeat the process, cooking cooked meat will give you burnt meat.

Now you will want to get the third item on her list a rat's tail. Now you will have to kill a small rat that is running around the town in order to get the tail. Of course you cannot get the rat's tail without starting the quest. You can however get every other item on the list together before starting this quest. It can save time but it also can cut down on some of the fun of doing the quest.

Lastly you will want to get an eye of a newt. Now don't worry you will not have to go poke a newt all day, they've already done it for you! Just head east to the small town at Port Sarim and look for the Magic Shop. They sell them there for only 3 gold coins.

Now that you have all of the ingredients, you will need to return to Hetty's house to talk to her. She will mix up them all in the cauldron until it is done. Then she will ask you to drink it all. To drink it just click on the cauldron. The quest is now finished! By completing this quest you will have gained 325 Magic experience points and one quest point.
