RuneScape Tips: an Introduction to Chatting and Tutors

J Gorman
Communication with fellow players is quite possibly the most important aspect to good RuneScape game play. This is because much of RuneScape revolves around the exchange of goods.

In order to effectively communicate, it is important to understand player lingo and chat room ethics and effects. This guide is intended to give you a brief overview of the chat features while including information on tutors.

Effects

There are a variety of text effects for chatting, including color and movement options, to be used to make what you have to say stand out.

Colors

To change the color of your text, type the color followed by a colon and then your message, including no spaces. For example, "Cyan:hello", minus the quotation marks, would enter hello (colored in cyan, of course). All other codes will follow in the same manner.

There are a few different movement options for your text. To make it flash or fade between colors, see below.

"Flash1:" (flashes between red and yellow)
"Flash2:" (flashes between cyan and blue)
"Flash3:" (flashes between light and dark green)
"Glow1:" (fades from red to orange to yellow to green to cyan)
"Glow2:" (fades from red to magenta to blue to dark red to red)
"Glow3:" (fades from white to green to white to cyan.

Movement

All of these codes will make your text move in different way within the chat window.

"Wave:" (makes your text move up and down)
"Wave2:" (makes your text wave diagonally)
"Shake:" (makes your text shake frantically)
"Slide:" (makes your text slide up and down)
"Scroll:" (makes your text scroll left to right)

**To combine both color and movement, type the codes right next to each other, again no spaces, as follows:

"red:scroll:hello" would enter hello in red, scrolling text.
