Running has many benefits such as weight loss, fighting age, improving self image and increasing health. Most runners soon find that they have sleek bodies that are attractive to the majority of the people. As their body changes so does their self-image. Runners will feel as though they have more strength, energy and beauty.
Weight loss: Other than cross-country skiing running burns the most calories. Between 600 and 1200 calories are burned every hour of running. Therefore running is one of the most efficient ways to burn off extra calories. Since most people don't get enough exercise but do get plenty of food running gives you the most bang for your time.
Fighting Age: Amazingly the body will regenerate itself and become stronger after each workout. It does this in order to help people survive. For example, when we had to do physical exercise in fighting and for survival the body would continually adapt. Thus running helps the skin tighten, increases muscle mass and strengthens bones.
Improving Self-Image: When you lose weight and fit into those smaller pair of jeans you will begin to feel as though you are more attractive and competent. Having a healthy self-image can affect many aspects of your life such as performance in your job, dating and handling stress. A positive self-image will improve your ability to handle difficult problems.
Overall Health: The heart pumps more blood, the lungs can handle more oxygen, your muscles are energized and your stress is reduced. As a fitness routine running and jogging is one of the best overall workouts. There is almost no machine in a gym that will ever come close to the ability of matching the positive effects of running. This is one of the major reasons why fitness camps, the military and doctors recommend and use jogging.
The first step in any jogging program is to get out there and try it. Even if your jog only lasts 15 minutes you still have done your body well and burned additional calories. As time goes on your body will become more used to the jogging and you will be able to run longer and faster. A good goal is 3 times per week but many joggers run nearly every day.
