"Running Late for Work"

Stress running laps around the Indy 500

Traffic lights changing at a snail's pace

Time running on the last grain of sand

before the clock strikes "late."

Can it be possible to reach terra firma

prior to the clock roaring away the demise

of punctuality,

Or should the tardy phoenix rise from the

ashes of responsibility and greet the late bird

Signifying throwing good behavior into the

sacrificial fire for a good lamb stew.

Unlikely able to obtain the opportunity

to pull the lamb out of the fire

when it becomes a sautéed pile of rubble

Unable to lock time in a Kenmore freezer

without throwing yourself in there

Only result is trying to defrost your frozen carcass

for the duration of the work day

Where the last to arrive is the last to leave.
