Running with the Lord

Brett Davison
The rain has grown heavy
The winds have grown wild
My clothes are drenched
I stand beneath a bridge

But still He gives me strength

Should I wait?
Will it weaken?
Will I return home without being pelted by stinging rain?
Will I return home without being buffetted by the bellowing wind?

Why would I want to?

Shall I sing for Him but not struggle for Him?
Shall I praise Him only when it is convenient?
Shall I forget Him in persecution?
Shall I hide in shadows when the Lord calls me to run?

A sheet of stinging rain strikes my face
A wall of moving air resists my progress
An inner voice protests my charge

Still I do not stop
Still I do not walk
Still...run

I run for the Lord
I run with the Lord
I run to the Lord
