Rush Limbaugh Dropped from St. Louis Rams Bid

In a Move to Save Face, Dave Checketts Will Be Dropping Rush Limbaugh from His Group Big

Rush Limbaugh will not be an owner of the St. Louis Rams. Rush Limbaugh is being dropped by Dave Checketts as a member of the group bidding to buy the St. Louis Rama. This is a very smart decision by Dave Checketts, because if he had kept Rush Limbaugh as part of his bid, he would have found too much opposition when it came time to take a vote between the owners. The problem is that Rush Limbaugh has taken it upon himself on numerous occasions to attack the NFL and its players, and he just has no business being part of it after his seemingly racist remarks over the years.

NFL sources (three of them) told ESPN that Rush Limbaugh is expected to be dropped from the Dave Checketts group very soon. By the time this article is published, Limbaugh could be on his own again in regards to becoming a part owner of an NFL franchise. Rush Limbaugh had been approached by Dave Checketts and several others with the intention of Limbaugh becoming a minority owner in the St. Louis Rams franchise. For some reason he decided that it would be something he would be interesting in doing, despite the disparaging comments he had made about the NFL is past radio shows that he hosted.

It would have been a really tough sell for a bid to have Rush Limbaugh involved in it, and it could have dragged down the potential of the Dave Checketts team if they had kept him on board. Merely getting rid of Rush Limbaugh does not guarantee that the Checketts group will be able to buy the Rams either, because he has a few more hurdles that he has to get through. The biggest hurdle is going to be coming up with the money to actually purchase the team, because NFL franchises do not come cheap. To buy the St. Louis Rams, the ownership teams are going to need to come up with close to a billion dollars to have one of their bids accepted. Checketts and his team aren't the only rumored groups going after the Rams either.

There would be one final obstacle for a team supporting Limbaugh to overcome, and that would be what we will call the final line of defense. In order for a sale of an NFL franchise to go through, it requires three-quarters of the league's 32 owners to approve it. That would mean 24 NFL owners would need to approve the Rush Limbaugh team's bid in the end. That may not have happened if Rush Limbaugh was still involved in the process, and Checketts made the very intelligent choice of parting ways with Limbaugh and his money. Maybe now Checketts, who also owns the NHL's St. Louis Blues will stand a chance in the bidding process.

I do agree that there is nothing wrong with someone trying to own a team, but people have to realize that the Black community as a whole is not to fond of Rush Limbaugh, and many think he's racist. So for a so called racist man to try to purchse a mostly Black team is outrageous.

The NFL & Checketts cowered to the nation's top race hustlers...shameful. Like "saul' said business is cut throat that's where my agreement ends w/ him. The disdain..however is misplaced...Sharpton & Jackson should have a voice but certainly no credibility.
