Rush Limbaugh in Hospital After Chest Pains: Suspected Heart Attack

Rush Limbaugh, the 58 year old radio host and political conservative commentator, was admitted to the hospital in serious condition on Dec 30th with a suspected heart attack, after suffering chest pains.

KITV television station reported that paramedics responded to the call at 2:41pm at the Kahala Hotel and Resort, where Limbaugh was staying on his Christmas vacation. He was taken by ambulance to Queen's Medical Center.

The report said that Limbaugh was seen golfing at Waialae Country Club - a country club next to the hotel - earlier this week.

According to his self-titled website, "Rush was admitted to a Honolulu hospital today and is resting comfortably after suffering chest pains. Rush appreciates your prayers and well wishes. He will keep you updated via RushLimbaugh.com and on Thursday's radio program."

Limbaugh's Chief of Staff, Kit Carson, told The Associated Press that he had no further information on Limbaugh's condition.

Earlier this year, Limbaugh read a letter on his radio show that he had received a request from a national print outlet: ... "If you could send us 400 words on your hope for the Obama presidency, we need it by Monday night. That would be ideal." He responded, "I don't need 400 words, I need four: I hope he fails."

He explained that he didn't want "absorption of as much of the private sector by the US government as possible, from the banking business, to the mortgage industry, the automobile business, to health care. I do not want the government in charge of all of these things. I don't want this to work." He continued, "What is unfair about my saying I hope liberalism fails? Liberalism is our problem. Liberalism is what's gotten us dangerously close to the precipice here."

Limbaugh later said that he wants to see Obama's policies fail, not the man himself. Speaking of Obama, Limbaugh said, "He's my president, he's a human being, and his ideas and policies are what count for me."

Limbaugh has increasingly been seen as a key leader in the Republican Party, and a top-rated voice on radio for years who earns up to $50 million a year.

Americans said in a poll last month that Limbaugh was America's most influential conservative voice. His three-hour weekday show is syndicated on about 600 radio stations across the country.
