Rush Limbaugh Rejects Tea Party Movement as Third Party; Tells Them to Go to GOP, Leave Third Party Thing to Dems

Marc Schenker
Rush Limbaugh rejects the Tea Party Movement as a third party and instead tells them to go to the GOP, leaving the third party thing to Democrats. Limbaugh's reasoning is that there's only ever been one, single connotation of third parties in American politics that makes them displeasing: They exist solely to guarantee elections to the Democrats! As proof, Limbaugh cites the recent occurrence of Perot's candidacy in 1992, which inarguably saw conservative voters siphoned off to him and away from the GOP, thereby assuring a Bill Clinton victory. Sure, it didn't help that Perot was more conservative than George HW Bush on some issues and that conservatives felt badly burned by Bush the Elder's double-cross on the no-taxes promise, but that example is an apt one nonetheless for conservatives not wanting to make another Democrat victory a too-easy thing.

Speaking to Gretchen Carlson from Fox and Friends in the second part of a two-day interview, Limbaugh spoke quite timely as the upcoming, national convention for the Tea Party is already underway and runs until the sixth of this month.

Since the Tea Party Movement gained steam and national prominence all throughout last year-with passionate opposition to Obama's increasing swelling of the federal government at the expense of individual and state rights being their primary, laudable beef-there have been semi-regular questions about the integrity of the GOP. Namely, if the GOP will absorb the Tea Party people, or, as some scuttlebutt has suggested, whether the GOP will actually splinter, lose the Tea Party people, and then ultimately become weaker for it, seeing as how a potential third party would be established in such a splinter-scenario. As some will remember, a recent poll even showed the Tea Party being more popular than either Democrats or Republicans.

Of course, the above scenario would be a nightmare for conservatives in the US because that would virtually guarantee federal elections to the socialist-supporting, Marxist Democrats, which is absolutely undesirable as Obama's first year has already proven beyond the shadow of a doubt.

So in that respect, Limbaugh is completely correct when it comes to rejecting that the Tea Party Movement grows into an actual third party! Limbaugh also contends that there already exists a natural home for the Tea Party...the GOP. Therein lies the basis of his advice: If real conservatism would just retake and dominate the extremely unreliable GOP again, then you wouldn't even need a third party because all the Tea Party folks who are rightly angry over fiscal recklessness would fit right in at the party.

Besides the aforementioned, there's also practical considerations as to why the Tea Party Movement shouldn't go and start its own third party. Unlike the GOP or the Dems, the movement doesn't have the kind of structure that would make it compete on even footing with either one of the long-established, major parties in the country. It has no defined leadership, no large coffers to fund races, no coordination among states, etc.. The Tea Party Movement is organic. So that means it's a bunch of everyday Americans getting together to protest, but that alone can't turn it into a party can compete in national elections. At least as far as elections go, Limbaugh's right on this one.

Mr Marc - you are a liar and don't even write the truth about rush limbaugh. i dont know where you are getting your information about rush limbaugh's rejection of 3rd party status for Tea Party.

rush himself, and on his own website, says quite the opposite, and thinks that Tea Party can or should become 3rd party.

here is the link for your own review, i suggest you and everyone else who believes your garbage should read it for yourselves... but ill include the radio transcript here for yous too.

    *snip*

CALLER: Well, if there's no meaningful action taken on this budget, what will the Tea Party do and when.

RUSH: Third party. That's what will happen. The Tea Party will throw out, in nominating fights, the people they think are not up to snuff -- and if that doesn't work, eventually they're gonna go third party. I think what everybody misunderstands about this

I first I disregarded the tea party movement as just a few angry people with nothing else to. Now I am worried. As much as they like to claim Obama's administration is similar to the Nazi party, it is the Tea Party that has more in common with the Nazi Party. It started out as a working man's party upset about the conditions in Germany after World War I. I know they are trying to distance themselves from the radicals but they are ultimately going to be the ones that take over. I have nothing against voicing your disenchantment with the government but you have to be careful how far all this is going to go. I have seen where its gotten progressively violent and I don't feel that was the original goal of the movement.

To "The Wizard of Westland". Marc Schenker is right on target. Pretending you can't see any difference between the Democrats and the Republicans tells me you are either blind or willfully ignorant. Zero Republican senators voted for Obamacare.. not even Snowe or Collins.. Only one idiot Rino in the House, out of 435 members voted for it. The policy differences on everything from the blind support of Obama to the Hoax of Global Warming, to Taxes, to Cap & Trade, to Card Check to Illegal Immigration to Big vs. Small government.. You willfully ignoring the STARK differences between the two, while pretending you just don't see it, exposes your flawed logic and your VERY small mind for the Moron that you are.. and thank God your type will never matter in matters that count.. You should move to Italy and enjoy the 145 parties they have.. ensuring that only the Bureaucrats benefit. You're No Wizard.. You're just a common useful idiot of the left.

As somebody who despises both Republicans and Democrats, I welcome the formation of a third party, even on as clearly hardcore right-wing as the Tea Party. It gets so tiring listening to the same old rhetoric from both parties and their continual sniping. It's also hilarious to see the GOP worrying about losing the conservatives that have increasingly only voted Republican(and even then with great reluctance) because Republicans keep trotting out that "Sure, we're not really all that conservative any more and you don't really like us, but look at the OTHER guy" argument. The Democrats do the same thing, telling hardcore liberals that if you don't vote for them, some horrible conservative will get in. We need more parties in this country...desperately. Even though I am against almost everything that the Tea Party stands for, I hope they are successful. Perhaps it will embolden others to vote for third parties and end the two-party duopoly that sucks out all life and meaning of the ameri

Limbaugh is a very astute political strategist. They ought to listen to him. He's smarter than mostly anyone in politics.
