Rush Limbaugh Set to Go After President Obama

Limbaugh's Mission: Attack Obama Just like He Attacked President Clinton

Saul Relative
Who's the second happiest guy in the United States? Rush Limbaugh, that's who. And he's quickly followed by a long list of conservative talk show hosts and pundits that will be making a financial "killing" off of the Barack Obama presidency by relentlessly attacking him. According to the Washington Post, Rush Limbaugh signed a $400 million contract in July to stay with Premiere Radio Networks (owned by Clear Channel) until 2016 and, although he would have been somewhat happy to see John McCain and Sarah Palin (more Palin than McCain) in the White House, Barack Obama's election is far better for his ratings.

The election of Senator Barack Obama to the presidency of the United States has been received as good news for a lot of people. Many of those people, those who dream of an America with a new direction, or anything not Republican, are ecstatic. But there are many conservatives that, after a brief flirtation with disappointment at Senator John McCain's loss, quickly shifted into happiness personified. Sean Hannity, Michael Savage, and Rush Limbaugh quickly spring to mind.

Why? Simply because, deep down, Rush Limbaugh and his fellow Obama-haters are capitalists at heart. And capitalism trumps ideology. But a marriage of the two results in higher ratings. Higher ratings brings in more money. More money brings more power. And Rush Limbaugh remembers when he had a lot more power.

Back in the Bill Clinton presidency, Rush Limbaugh held sway over a media empire that not only encompassed a massive radio following but a rather large television audience as well. Rush Limbaugh and the Dittoheads, his mindlessly loyal fans, were a sharp thorn in the side of the Democratic Party but extremely dogged when it came to anything Clintonian.

It was his constant attacks and large following of disaffected conservatives, along with Congressman Newt Gingrich and the GOP's grass-roots organization, that helped frame the Contract for America and the Republican takeover of Congress in 1994. The Republicans would retain control of Congress until popular dissatisfaction with the Iraq War would allow the Democrats to gain a slight edge in both chambers of Congress in 2006.

So Limbaugh, who knows how to rouse the rabble, so to speak, is no doubt having dreams of resurrecting his media empire. He has made no attempts to curb his dislike for Obama and what he refers to as Obama's godless liberalism, his un-American socialistic policies, and his anti-American mannerisms.

With the Democrats gaining at least five more seats in the Senate (4 contests are still undecided) and a clear majority in the House of Representatives (preliminary results gives them at least 254 seats against 173, with 8 still undecided), Limbaugh, a staunch conservative, will have a lot to rail against, real and contrived. Unlike many Republicans who openly stated that, even though they were voting for Senator McCain, they would still support a President Obama, Rush Limbaugh will never support Obama.

And that will be great for his ratings. (Remember: follow the money first...)

If one does not choose to believe that Limbaugh will be hard at work attempting to oust the Democrats by 2010 or 2012, all one has to do is access RushLimbaugh.com and check out the "Pearls of Wisdom" inset. From Election Day, a quote from Limbaugh: "I resent the notion I'm going to 'have a field day' if Obama wins. Yeah, I'm going to have a field day watching this guy destroy the country."

Trying to make President Obama look terrible no matter what he attempts, whether it be beneficial to the nation or not, will be Limbaugh's mission for the next four years. But it will be easier this time. The path is already well worn. He'll just need to paint over the name Bill Clinton.

These morons will blame ACORN if their toilet gets plugged up.

Rush Limbaugh and his ilk (Sean Hannity, Ann Coulter, etc.) had a field day conflating voter registration fraud and voter fraud, which are two different things. They intentionally fanned the flames of fear of a hijacked election (why not, with the Republican history of doing same in the last couple elections?). It was about de-legitimizing Obama BEFORE he became president and hoping they could mobilize enough opposition through outrage and fear to make sure he did not become president. But since he did win the presidency, Limbaugh and his group of disinformation pushers laid the foundation for doubt of legitimacy. Even though Obama won by almost 8 million votes, Limbaugh, Hannity and Assorted Morons will push the idea that ACORN stole the election, not even bothering to recognize the fact that registeing Mickey Mouse to vote does not get that vote to count on Election Day, which is true voter fraud...

Look, Bedford, you lame idiot, if Acorn registered dead people or made up people, it hardly matters: those people CAN'T VOTE. On the other hand, where were all the complaints of REAL voter fraud, like the flyers that were passed out in black neighborhoods that said Democrats were supposed to vote Wednesday, or other documented cases of voter intimidation against likely Democratic voters by ignorant, hateful, desperate losers like yourself? Put a sock in it, eh.

Rush is consistant, and does good radio regardless of who wins.

As for those who thin Obama won fair and square, one word: ACORN.

Ohhhhh! So he does it all for money. He doesn't mean a bit of it then. Besides, hasn't he heard? All that polarizing talk went out with the Ark. He has become irrelevant by the very fact of Obama's presidency.

Bad luck can only come to those who persist in demeaning the character of others. Didn't Limbaugh go deaf after years of having attacked Clinton, and hasn't he understood that to be a warning or worse to come if he continues?

    Rush who?

Surprise for Limbaugh. This time around will be a little different. He and his radio group will be extremely disliked and sued into bankruptcy. Watch and see.

Back in the late '80s, Rush Limbaugh used to have a real talk show. There was an actual give and take between the callers and the host. Since he became the leading voice of hate and discontent during the Clinton administration, he's made more money. For him, the loss of relevance and true dialogue gave way forever to the siren call of the dollar. Now all his does is shout, posture, and spread vile nonsense. God love 'em.

Nice opening to this piece, Saul. And I salute Justice Lives Not's comments. As for RL, could there be any more irrelevant individual on the face of the earth (excepting Jim Carrey...perhaps)? A couple of notes: Capitalism is an ideology; what we've proved in the last eight years is that, totally unregulated, it will sink into the muck of artificial value, but that's a discussion for another day. Everybody, see Paul Krugman's recent Times piece on the coming marginalization of "mainstream" Republicans. What they should be asking is: Where's the next Nelson Rockefeller? But they're not.

Look, I didn't want him to win, either. But he did win. I am going to support our new president just the same. Am I all of the sudden madly in love with him? Of course not, but he won fair and square. He is the president of my country, and I am going to support him until he gives me reason enough not to do so. To tear him down before he even gets started will do no good, and shows very little maturity or class. I have already spoken my mind about Barack Obama for months on AC and everywhere else. Now is the time to wait and see what kind of job he will do before I judge his performance, but I sincerely hope I am wrong about where he wants to take us.
