Rush Limbaugh's Approval Higher Than Hollywood

Bruce Ziebarth
President Barack Obama's Administration has tried to depict Rush Limbaugh as the de facto Republican party leader. Pollwatch reported, "OPERATION LIMBAUGH planned by Obama political operatives, (Obama Chief of Staff) Rahm Emanuel, James Carville and Paul Begala appears to have NO legs" (11 percent of Republicans Say Rush Limbaugh is GOP Leader, 2009). Not only does "Operation Limbaugh" have no legs, Rush Limbaugh is cashing in on it.

Rush Limbaugh's approval rating is higher than Hollywood. Today, McClatchy reported on a recent approval poll, "the poll found 30 percent of Americans with favorable opinions of Limbaugh" (McClatchy-Ipsos poll: How's Limbaugh do against Obama, 2009). In fact, Rush Limbaugh stated today, "my approval rating is higher than lawyers, actors, Hollywood, and Congress."

Rush Limbaugh's radio program has seen significant advertising revenue increases. World Net Daily reported, "Revenues at the EIB Network in the first quarter of 2009 are up 13 and a half percent over first quarter revenues of 2008" (Rush cashes in on Democrat demonizing, 2009). World Net Daily does not state how many dollars a 13 percent increase represents. Rush Limbaugh's current contract is for 50 million dollars.

President Obama's administration has certainly brought change. Under George W. Bush, Rush Limbaugh was seen as representing a "fringe" sector of the Republican Party. The drive-by media occasionally took aim at Rush Limbaugh but never to a large extent. Leaving Rush Limbaugh with a loyal following that never drastically increased or decreased. President Barack Obama's fiscal policies, stimulus packages, and "Operation Limbaugh" have caused even the drive-by media to continuously report on Rush Limbaugh. These continuous reports have made Rush Limbaugh even more profitable and successful.
