Rush Limbaugh…Zero To Self Righteous in Half a Second!

There's nothing like a former celebrity scandal club member who doesn't skip a beat on his way back to self-righteous. It just goes to show you. You can tear a man a new asshole, but you can't turn an asshole into a new man. In case you are completely clueless, Rush Limbaugh is the conservative blowhard who got his fame from defaming President Clinton live on TV. When his Shtick got old, he went back to radio… a funny place for a deaf man. Let's face it though, Rush has never really used his ears, because his mouth does all of the work. Yes…he's almost completely deaf, the result of a sudden illness a few years back. (I think it was sort of a case of use 'em or lose 'em)

A few years ago, Rush got himself in a bit of trouble when he started taking illegally obtained pain killers to nurse along an addiction. Secretly, those of us sporting more than half a brain smiled inside to hear of his troubles. There was always something a bit smug about Rush's delivery. Seeing such a 'man' taken down a peg was more fun than watching million dollar race cars crash into each other at two hundred miles per hour.

Rush wasted no time saving himself by getting help and apologizing to his fans before once again hitting the airwaves with his smugness. Recently the man with the tongue of coal turned his attention on America's disability sweetheart, Michael J. Fox. Don't get me wrong. I love that Michael J. is doing everything he can to cure himself and to take some people with him, but I don't think he's any more of an American hero than Christopher Reeve, a hack of an actor whose most famous role was sitting in a wheelchair refusing to die. He doesn't get special treatment because he's the poster child for Parkinson's but there is a big difference between understanding that a self preservationist is not a hero and outright attacking the man for displaying the symptoms of his medically diagnosed illness.

For those that don't know what I am referring to, Rush Limbaugh recently accused Michael J. Fox of faking the symptoms of his condition in an effort to garner sympathy for his cause, stem cell research. That leaves me wondering. Is Rush really so stupid as to think he can attack a wrongly crowned hero of disability without fallout, or is Rush just gearing up to try to steal the spotlight again? Rush Limbaugh is a drug addict. Is he jealous that he can't flaunt the effects of his medically diagnosed condition on his radio show? He was out of line. He owes Michael J. Fox a public apology, and he needs to remember his own limitations in life. Maybe someone should whisper in his ear and then accuse him of faking the symptoms of his deafness. What a pompous ass! Seriously… RUSH LIMBAUGH??? That's the best thing outside of Anne Coulter that the Conservatives have to offer? Why in the world hasn't this guy been disavowed publicly by conservatives? Recently here on A.C. someone labeled Sean Hannity a hero… worthy of the sort of respect due Rush Limbaugh. I agreed… and I still do. Rush… Take a pill!

(note: Just because I don't think Mike or Chris are heroes doesn't mean I don't think it's cool that they have worked hard to overcome their disabilities. I was sad that Chris lost his battle, but not because he was a hero. Rather it was just sad to see a guy go that worked so hard to stay)
