Russell Crowe Curses and Storms Out of Interview - Hear the Audio

The Russell Crowe I've come to know and love is back. Ever since the handsome Australian actor got married and became a father, he's just, well, settled down. His wife, the lovely Danielle Spencer, has had quite the calming influence on our tempestuous Russell and he's almost become rather boring over the years.

Though I've certainly come to appreciate his more tamed, domestic, married father of two side, I've rather missed my favorite bad-ass Aussie raising hell in pubs,throwing phones and getting arrested. But, all is not lost.

It seems that Danielle hasn't completely tamed our seriously sexy hot head from Down Under. We can thank BBC interviewer, Mark Lawson, for effectively resurrecting our old Russell when he questioned the roots of Russell's accent in his latest movie role, Robin Hood.

It seems that Mark Lawson heard a bit of an Irish brogue in Russell Crowe's Robin Hood. Something our Russell didn't take too kindly to, mind you. But, given that Russell worked with some of the best vocal and dialogue coaches in the industry for his portrayal of Robin Hood in the latest, epic, Ridley Scott film, I suppose you could understand his irritation.

When Mark Lawson suggested that the character sounded Irish, Russell snapped back, "you've got dead ears, mate. You've seriously got dead ears if you think that's an Irish accent"

Now, at this point, considering Russell Crowe's history and taking into account that Russell is built like a brick shit house, and that Mark Lawson looks more like a pasty, puffy marshmallow with glasses, you would think he would realize he was now treading on shaky ground.

But, there must be something in the water at the BBC that gives pudgy interviewers like Mark Lawson a bit of manly confidence, because, well, he didn't flinch. Rather, he pressed on. In fact, not only did he press on, but he then asked Russell if he was going for a Northern English accent. Ahem.

Let's just say the rest of the interview went downhill from there, complete with an F-bomb or two and Russell waving his cigarette and storming out.

So, now, I don't know who to kiss first. Russell Crowe, because he's, you know, Russell Crowe or marshmallow Mark Lawson for pissing off the hottest Australian actor on the planet and bringing sexy back. Either way, how can you lose? Oh, happy day.
