When I do give them candy; however, I want it to be good quality. That is why this Easter I am using Russell Stover Solid Milk Chocolate Eggs in their Easter baskets.
While these eggs are not inexpensive at around $3 for 7 oz., there are about 30 in every bag. A serving size is considered to be 6 pieces. That equals a total of 5 servings per bag.
There are 230 calories per serving with a little more than half of those, or 120, coming from fat. There are a total of 13 grams of fat in each serving. Of that amount, 8 grams comes from saturated fat. Russell Stover Solid Milk Chocolate Eggs contain no trans fat.
There are also 24 grams of carbohydrate, 22 grams of sugar, 30 milligrams of sodium and 5 milligrams of cholesterol in Russell Stover Solid Milk Chocolate Eggs. On the flip side, they contain 3 grams of protein and 1 gram of fiber. They also contain 6% of the daily-recommended amount of iron and 2% of the required vitamin A.
Ingredients include butter, cocoa, soy lecithin, sugar, vanilla flavoring and whole milk. Be aware that Russell Stover Solid Milk Chocolate Eggs are made on equipment that is shared with eggs, nuts and wheat products. The chocolate could, therefore, be a problem for people who have allergies to any of those items.
What I appreciate about Russell Stover is their quality and freshness guarantee. They stand behind their products. Customers who are not fully satisfied with any Russell Stover product can return it to the company for either a replacement or full refund.
For more information, contact their website or through their 800 number at 1-800-777-4128. They are open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
Here is my summary review:
Taste: 5 stars. Russell Stover chocolate can go head to head with the best chocolate available.
Appearance: 5 stars. Each egg is individually wrapped in a colorful foil piece. Colors include gold, pink, blue, green and purple.
Freshness: 5 stars. Freshness for this product is never a problem. They are produced fresh around Easter time only.
Packaging: 5 stars. The cellophane bag for Russell Stover Solid Milk Chocolate Eggs is yellow, green and pink with white and red lettering. There is a clear insert on the bottom third of the bag so that the customer can see the eggs inside.
Dietary value: 3 star. Chocolate may not be the best food to consume. However, if you intend to indulge Russell Stover Solid Milk Chocolate Eggs are a good choice.
Ease of purchase: 5 stars. Russell Stover Solid Milk Chocolate Eggs can be purchased at a few discount department stores, drugs stores and grocery marts every Easter. The best bet for finding this candy; however, is a Russell Stover Candy Outlet. Unfortunately, those are limited and sprinkled unevenly throughout the U.S.
Price: 4 stars. It seems a little expensive at $3 a bag, but that works out to only $.10 a serving, which really isn't too bad.
Final rating: 4.4 stars or good.
RATING SCALE:
5 stars - outstanding
4 stars - good
3 stars - average
2 stars - below average
1 star - poor
