Leftists, are leftists are leftists. Example in point...MSNBC is running the headline based on a Reuters' story "Russia: US Missile Shield Threatens Global Security." How does that work exactly? As my overview asks, how does my building a fence around my property threaten my neighbors? See my point about leftists? They live in a world that does not make much sense to those of us not so encumbered with such an asinine ideology.
In the MSNBC story Russian president Medvedev argues the Russian response will be a return to a "Cold War-style arms race if Moscow and Washington fail to resolve the missile defense spat." On it's face this seems like a threat and a foolish one, considering the last Cold War arms race was the one where we, the US, spent the Commies into oblivion and caused the collapse of the Soviet Union and most of world Communism.
Does it seem all that wise to then recall a time when Russia gets stomped in an arms race, and to then threaten to engage in the same losing strategy again? Where is the logic? Oh, I forgot...no logic involved, but there is clearly a great deal of threatening bluff and bluster. Isn't this sorta like challenging me to a fight, I whip ya fair and square and according to the rules and then after I whip ya, as you pick your whipped butt up off the ground I am told "try it again and I'll give ya more!" Oh, well that will clearly keep me in line. Lemme bug outta here before I get hurt....
Again, how is any nation building a shield to protect itself from incoming missiles a threat to anyone else? Will someone pipe in and inform me that to build a strong defense is in and of itself a threatening action? Following that total lack of logic then, me having a permit to carry a concealed weapon is a threat to those around me? See how the leftist talking points work? Exact same argument that makes no logical or factual sense, but it does surely drive some to Olympic hand wringing.
"Oh my! Those evil American's are forcing me to attack them by preparing to defend themselves!" Yep, and my privacy fenced backyard is clearly a threat to my poor, victimized neighbors. No telling what I am up to behind those wood slats. Heck, I may be building a cannon up in here, secure from prying eyes...don't I wish!
It would take a complete dolt or another leftist to accept the Medvedev threat as anything more than bluff and bluster. It is an effort to effect American politics through threats, and damned hollow ones at that.
Do reader's know the Russian Navy is a tiny fraction of it's strength during the height of the Cold War? They have more rusting ships sitting at their moorings then they have in service, and not by one or two ships, but by exponential numbers. Most of their formerly stellar fleet of submarines sit rusting. Short of the Ruskies using atomic weapons, their threat is as hollow as a empty glass ball...the first good smack and the pieces will be strewn all over the floor. And that should cause genuine concern? Puleeeeze!
Medvedev's threat is one thing though...terrorism. It is an effort to employ fear as a tool to force their wishes; to sow fear in the minds of the hand wringers to get them to harping against any potential missile shield as being unsettling and dangerous.
Okay whiners, your turn now...tune up and get to lamenting the misery of it all...tell us how evil and blatantly irresponsible the US is if we "endanger" the world by making sure we are protected from rogue states potential use of WMD against this nation and our allies. Explain this one to me. And make sure to inform me I am too obtuse and not an "intelligent thinker" so I can grasp how my protecting myself is cause for others to worry.
I mean that is the argument against citizens carrying guns, right? Ya know, the mere presence of a gun makes violence more possible? Even when in the hands of a law abiding citizen, somehow the existence of a firearm means someone will be shot. And there is some truth to that of course, cause if one presents potential life threatening violence to me indeed someone is getting shot, so I guess they have me on this one....oh well...I give up...idiots!
