Rut

Missy H.
*This is a poem about a friend of mine*

Tears and snot, streaming down her face,
that she does not even bother to wipe away.
If someone walked in and saw her,
she would not even know what to say.
In the quiet, she wonders where in the world
is that miracle she has sought.
He does not seem to love her,
so she has reasoned that he does not.
If he did, he would definitely
just tell her and show her so.
He plainly told her that he does not
and now, she is feeling pretty low.
And so much time has gone by
where he has not stepped up, spoken out.
and she realizes this now,
which is why, she can have these doubts.
She wants to tell him she loves him
and wishes she'd hear this from him as well.
But, if he had those feelings for her,
he would have made them clear as a bell.
She wants to face everything,
before she leaves town for the week,
so that, she can finally find
the inner peace that she seeks
She thinks to herself that she will
Always love him, no matter what.
But she needs to pull herself
up out of this nothing rut
