Ruth Chris' steakhouse is about as fancy as you can get. I was given a gift card by an associate of mine to Ruth Chris' steakhouse and so I decided to try the restaurant with some friends of mine. The wait was about half an hour which isn't too bad for a place as fancy and elegant as Ruth's.
The very first thing you will notice is that Ruth's steakhouse is not your common restaurant. The bread served on the table is very fancy and so are the napkin clothes that they give to you. Ruth Chris' is the type of restaurant in which a waiter is always near you to attend to your ever need and if you drop your napkin cloth, a waiter will pick it up for you. Yes folks, it's that fancy.
Ruth Chris' is known for their steak since it is a steakhouse but they also have a good selection of fine fish. The Tilapia and salmon are very tasty. Of course, their steak is absolutely scrumptious and you won't find a better tasting steak anywhere else. Almost every meal comes individually without any side dish, beverage or drink included. The food prices are extremely expensive due to the elegance of the restaurant coupled with the fact that it is located in one of the most expensive areas of the United States: Times Square in New York City. The portions of food are very small and you may have to order a side dish or appetizer to fill you up. If you order a drink, a side dish and a main course, you will easily be facing upwards of $40 per person if you include tip and tax.
As for parking, all I have to say is: good luck. In the heart of Manhattan, it is nearly impossible to find street parking so your best bet is to park in a parking garage which will cost you about $30 for the night to leave your car parked.
When you come to Ruth Chris' steakhouse be prepared to spend a lot of money on your meal but also be prepared to be amazed at the fanciness of the restaurant, the charming waiters and waitresses and the rich folks who come to the restaurant. For the average middle class family, there are better alternatives than to go to Ruth Chris' steakhouse but if you are looking for a night which you don't care about the costs, Ruth Chris' steakhouse is the place for you!
