Fidalgo Bay RV Resort isn't just located on Fidalgo Bay, it is nearly surrounded by it with outstanding views of the saltwater, several San Juan Islands, and Mt. Baker.
There are 148 full service sites with 20/30/50 amp electrical service, cable TV, picnic tables, and fire ring. Average site width is 20 feet and there are 66 pull-thru sites to accommodate big rigs with "toad." The resort has a limited number of beachfront sites, but it's just a short walk to the water's edge from every site in the park where you can:
* Swim
* Saltwater fish
* Launch a small boat
* Harvest shellfish and Dungeness Crab
* Hunt for agates
* Or, lay on the beach and do nothing at all
There are plenty of activities for the landlubbers in your party, too. Fidalgo Bay Resort offers a big clubhouse with a pool table and games for the whole family. Workout in the fitness center or just kick back on the lanai and enjoy the breathtaking vista. The Tommy Thompson Scenic Trail runs right through the heart of the resort and provides a paved surface for walking, jogging or biking. Walk the trestle across Fidalgo Bay and be sure to take your camera. You'll want to take pictures.
A word of caution '" stay on the beach and do not attempt to walk out on the mud flat at low tide. The mud is knee deep and, once stuck, it's difficult to free yourself. Incoming tides move quickly, too.
Other amenities at the resort include WIFI, laundry, ice, firewood, limited groceries and RV supplies.
Bring the whole family and don't forget the four-legged members. Fidalgo Bay Resort is kid and pet friendly. Summer 2011 rates start at $32 for a standard site, up to $58 for a waterfront site. Save money with the weekly rate.
Located at 4701 Fidalgo Bay Rd, Anacortes, WA 98221, this RV campground is just 2 miles to the town of Anacortes, a destination in and of itself. It's billed as "The Gateway to the San Juan Islands" because it hosts the Washington State Ferry terminal providing ferry service to the islands of Lopez, Shaw, Orcas, and Friday Harbor and daily sailings to Victoria, B.C. on Vancouver Island. You can find major grocery stores, gas, propane, RV and marine parts and supplies, emergency medical services, and just about anything else you might need. Entertainment and recreational opportunities abound. Read more about Anacortes in the article "The RVers' Guide to Anacortes, WA."
Fidalgo Bay RV Resort is an outstanding location for your RV base camp while visiting the San Juan Islands. A word of caution, however - make your reservations well in advance of your travels. This resort is very popular in the high season months of June through September.
