RV Camping at Goliad State Park and Historic Site, Goliad, Texas

Those visitors who find themselves in the Goliad, Texas area have several options of places to set up their temporary home. They can choose from the traditional RV park or they can step out of the ordinary into the past of Texas by staying at Goliad State Park and Historic Site. Here they will find Mission Espiritu Santo, which was established in 1749 as the home of Franciscans who are known to have developed the first large and successful cattle ranching operation while teaching native Americans, or Aranamas, "religious principles and craft skills", the Angel of Goliad Statue and the birthplace of General Ignacio Zaragoza. The Fannin Battlefield is only 10 miles away.

Goliad State Park and Historic Site, located at 108 Park Road 6, Goliad, Texas, offers its guests more than just a Texas history lesson. RVers who choose to stay here will find a river trail which winds down the San Antonio River, a nature trail, an ampitheater and an interpretive center all in a wooded area. There are also picnic sites, restrooms with showers, screened shelters, a play ground, a park store and a sewer dump station on the park grounds. A swimming pool is located across the road from the park where park guests can swim for a small fee.

There are 58 pull through RV sites at Goliad State Park and Historic Site. Each of these sites has water, 20/30/50 amp electricity and sewer. The RV sites have a picnic table, fire ring and grill and are gravel and grass. There is no laundry facility or wifi internet for those who may be considering staying awhile. But, pets are welcome and there are rates for daily, weekly and monthly stays. Check out time is 2 pm and if you are staying longer, renew time is by 9 am.

Goliad State Park and Historic Site maybe just the perfect spot to use as home base, especially if an RVer is considering taking a closer look at the history of Texas. With a museum such as the Mission Espiritu Santo located on the park property, this could be the perfect place to start the investigation.
