Ryan Cabrera's name has only hit the lips of the commercial mainstream for a little over a year, and he already can add on to this resume: Platinum singer, songwriter, and musician for his debut album Take It All Away. Cabrera can throw the music producer and TV host along with his credentials. Promoting his new record at smaller venues, Cabrera performed at the House of Blues Sunset Strip. This tour will be followed by a larger tour at the beginning of 2006.

The 23 year old Texas Native recently released his sophomore album, You Stand Watching. About the album, Cabrera says: "its more rock, it's more jazz, it's more pop, it's more funk... It's a little more classy."

Cabrera sure knows who his audience is. You Stand Watching is riding on the coattails of his single hit, "True," with his new album consisting of mainly ballads relating heartaches and relationships. His opening acts were the Veronicas and Click Five. Click Five has that bubblegum pop feel to them that sits properly with Cabrera's good looks and easy going charisma.

Always a jokester, if sometimes falling short, Cabrera emerged on stage yielding a piccolo to his audience of the "Myspace" generation -consisting of pre-teen ooggaly eyed girls-. In addition, Cabrera shared personal anecdotes: like the one about the time when he landed at the hospital after a nipple injury or his experience being bullied in high school. Most of the audience, apparently, could relate to the latter incident.

Regarding his performance, Cabrera was dead on, covering songs old and new. He opened with "Hit Me with Your Light" which Cabrera admits to having his favorite and most meaningful lyrics. Will you catch me if I fall? / I would give my life / If it meant anything at all / Lord help me carry on / Will you be there when I'm gone.

Toward the end of the show, Cabrera gave a shout to his writing partner, Chris James, who, among others, helped him write, "Fall Baby Fall." To the surprise of the audience, Ashlee Simpson was standing along side James, and her father, Joe Simpson.

Not seeming like a rock concert, Cabrera for most of the set played along with guitar. He did sit with a keyboard to serenade the sad song, "Its You." Cabrera's band consisted of a saxophone player and cello player, giving the pop sounding music more of a symphonic feel. Nonetheless, in true rock fashion, articles of clothing were thrown on stage, namely the underwear sorts.

His newest CD title, You Stand Watching refers to how non-fans pass judgment on him and his music before actually listening to it.

The album is currently in stores.

A bonus track is offered exclusively to those who purchase the album on iTunes.

Catch Cabrera on his MTV reality/dating show "Score" on weekdays before TRL.
