Ryan Leaf Arrested on Drug Charges, Suspicion of Burglary
Ryan Leaf is a Former Washington State University Player and NFL Quarterback
This is yet another bad move in the life of Ryan Leaf, and if it turns out that all of these charges end up sticking, Ryan Lead could be looking at some jail time. This latest misstep is due to Leaf presenting an incomplete medical history to several physicians between the months of January and September in 2008 to get or try to get drugs. His drug of choice was the painkiller Hydrocodone, but that isn't where the drug problems come to an end for Leaf. According to police Leaf is suspected of breaking into an apartment on October 30th to steal Hydrocodone. It is thought that this is a drug that had been prescribed to another football player who was injured at the time.
When he allegedly gained control of the stolen drugs, Leaf then tried to give someone else a substance that he stated was the Hydrocodone, but turned out to not be that drug. This isn't the first time that Leaf has been in trouble with the law, as he had problems back in his college town of Pullman, Washington when he returned years after graduating. It is just one more nick on the legacy that Leaf had created for himself when he was the star player of a great Washington State team in the mid 1990's, and will just add to the punch lines that comedians have been using in his regard for years.
When Ryan Leaf was drafted out of Washington State University, he had accomplished some very impressive statistics, including helping WSU win the Pac-10 Conference Championship, and making it all the way to the Rose Bowl. The San Diego Chargers had high hopes for him when they drafted him #2 (right behind Peyton Manning at #1), but his career flamed out pretty quickly. He struggled with the Chargers before going to the Cowboys, and finished his career with only 3,666 passing yards and 14 touchdowns. Now he can add drug charges to his list of accomplishments, and once again Ryan Leaf has served to embarrass the University that gave him so much.
