Ryan O'Neal Hit on Tatum at Farrah Funeral, Reports 'Vanity Fair'

Ryan O'Neal hit on Tatum at Farrah Funeral. That's a disturbing headline to read, a headline that Ryan O'Neal fans would find rather hard to believe. They would find in damn near impossible to believe, in fact. But according to Vanity Fair, that is precisely what happened - Ryan O'Neal hit on his daughter Tatum O'Neal at Farrah Fawcett's funeral. And Tatum O'Neal has confirmed it. As hard as it is to believe, Ryan O'Neal's 45-year-old daughter has confirmed to Vanity Fair that the headline, Ryan O'Neal hit on Tatum at Farrah Funeral is true. "That's our relationship in a nutshell," said Tatum. "You make of it what you will."

In the interest of fairness, though, it needs to be made clear that the headline, Ryan O'Neal hit on Tatum at Farrah Funeral is somewhat misleading. It needs to be made clear that when Ryan O'Neal hit on an attractive blonde woman at his longtime love Farrah Fawcett's funeral, he did not realize that it was his daughter Tatum O'Neal.

"I had just put the casket in the hearse and was watching it drive away, when a beautiful blonde woman comes up and embraces me," said Ryan O'Neal to Vanity Fair during the course of a long interview which will appear in the pages of the September issue.

"I said to her, 'You have a drink on you? You have a car?' She said, 'Daddy, it's me-Tatum!' I was just trying to be funny with a strange Swedish woman, and it's my daughter. It's so sick."

Indeed it is.

I have been a fan of Ryan O'Neal since he burst onto the scene as a hot young film actor in the late 1960s. I am one of the fans referenced at the beginning of this article, in fact. I am one of the people who finds the headline, Ryan O'Neal hit on Tatum at Farrah Funeral to be beyond belief - to be too upsetting to regard as truth.

Thus, it was a great relief to learn that Ryan O'Neal did not realize it was Tatum O'Neal he was hitting on. But why was he flirting with someone at Farrah Fawcett's wedding? That too is very disturbing and hard to understand.

But I want to give Ryan O'Neal the benefit of the doubt.

I'm going to operate under the assumption that Ryan O'Neal flirted with a woman at the funeral of his beloved Farrah Fawcett because he was too grief stricken to realize how tasteless and appalling it was to do so.

Emotional turmoil and grief can make people behave in odd and mysterious ways. It can make people behave in shocking ways.

And, apparently, a sense of unbearable grief made Ryan O'Neal hit on Tatum at Farrah Fawcett's funeral.
