Sacrament of the Eucharist (Communion)

Marcos Lemos
This is the Sacrament par excellence, for which all point: "The Church lives from the Eucharist. This fact not only expresses a daily experience of faith, but contains in summary the very core of the mystery of the Church "(Ecclesia de Eucharist, 1). It is the sacrament that completes the initiation into the faith. For the faithful he definitely conforms to Jesus Christ as it is for this sacrament we receive Jesus fully.

We believe the real presence of Jesus Christ in full - body, soul and divinity - in the elements of Bread and Wine, which are processed in all its substance. Does not exclude the other "presence of Jesus," but confirmed by the promise he made to be with us "until the end of time" (Mt 28.20).

The essential elements for this sacrament, therefore, are the bread wheat and wine from fermented grape. Are presented, and the words of consecration - handed a presbyter legitimately orderly and in communion with the Church - are finally processed in the Lord Jesus and data as food for the body and the soul of the faithful.

It is also an order of Jesus and in his gestures end of last supper. He even taking the bread and wine, spoke the words "This is my body" and "this is the chalice of the new alliance" and said that if repeat this gesture "until I come" (Mk 14,22-25 and parallel ).

It is called "Communion" not only by uniting us to the mystery of Christ in his Easter (death and resurrection), but also for ensuring the unity of the whole Church, which is symbolic of the Body of Christ.
