Sacramento Area Craigslist Review

A few years ago, I was entranced with ebay. I bought and sold everything through that site. I checked my auctions on a daily basis. It was easy to get hooked. It was fun, exciting, I loved being the winning bidder. That extra penny was always the secret. I am a computer and internet savvy individual. When my cousin started telling me about this website called craigslist where she was getting great deal after great deal and finding countless treasures, I was shocked. Why hadn't I ever heard of it. I went home and checked it out. I was shocked. It was such a simple idea, yet it was perfect. The local newspaper has a classified section, but listing an ad is expensive. Craigslist works great as an outlet to get rid of items that would traditionally be saved until you accumulated enough "junk" for a yard sale.

A few months ago I lost my job. Since I was out of work, I needed to make some cash fast. I had an old car that I wanted to sell. I checked out the requirements for selling on ebay, I checked the price for a classified ad in the local paper and I checked various auto trader type websites. With the exception of ebay, most places required a payment upfront to list my car. Since I was short on cash, the prospect of prepaying in order to try and sell was not pleasant. The fees for placing on ebay took quite a chunk out of my profit as well. I remembered craigslist and decided to try it out. The first time I listed the car I made a huge mistake. I created a post, I wrote my description of the car, make, model, year, repairs made within last year, etc. I put my email address on the bottom of the page and I sat back and waited. Over the next few days I got a few emails. Not many. After a week, I gave up. I removed the listing and thought that perhaps my car wasn't going to sell quick like I thought. As my cash situation grew more dire, I decided to give craigslist one more shot. This time, I took pictures of the exterior and interior of the car. I rewrote the description. I then reposted the ad with pictures. This time I didn't post my email address, I just left it for people to use the craigslist response email. Within a few hours, I began getting several serious responses to the ad. Within three days, I received the price that I was asking for the car and I had the cash in my hand.

The big selling point was the pictures. Selling items on craigslist is easy, when you take good, clear pictures of the items that you are trying to sell.
