Sacred Roses Foreveer

Janice Meyer
Bouquet of roses you sent on that day.
Small buds of roses in gentle pink shades
now await full birth in lavish array.
In fresh dew droplets, rare perfume pervades.

Between Bible's pages carefully pressed,
in sacred keeping forever. Again
are they counted, each solemnly blessed
in silent prayer that our love never wane.

The roses are withered, faded, withdrawn.
Their beauty still takes me in reverie
as through the years - two hearts joined became one,
recall sweet magic of love meant to be.

Each bloom a seal, a gift of love so true,
my prayer, 'I have given such gifts to you.'
