Sad Songs and Silken Sighs

Adam Kamerer
Sad songs and silken sighs
Slide slowly past lips parted and
Politely pulsing with promises
And punctuated pleas for
Solace and solitude
And serenity, sweet serenity.
Serendipitous salutations
Box up badly-worded babblings
In riddle-glazed wrappings of
Random writings and lace.
Lately, listening lacks its luster
And stilted speeches slow to slippery silence,
A pregnant pause in the patterns of perfection
We've willingly weaved within ourselves.
Words whispered beneath white curtains
Shield us from the strikingly stark stutterings
Of symmetry and stolen symbols.
Could cryptic calls and cantic clamorings
Clatter less loudly on the living limericks
You and I've become?
