Saddam Hussein to Hang in Thirty Days

The Appeals Court Has Approved the Verdict of Hanging

Saddam Hussein was sentence to die for the arrest and conviction of the murder of 148 people in 1982 by an Iraqi court on November 4th, 2006. The appeals court has approved the verdict of hanging. The decision of the appeals court must be ratified by Iraq's President and two vice presidents, and once this decision is ratified, Saddam Hussein and his co-defendants will be put to death by hanging, in as little as 30 days from now.

How will the Nation and world feel about this hanging? Approximately 78 countries are in favor of and use executions as punishment. The majority of the countries have abolished Capital Punishment.

Most executions in the USA are carried out by lethal injection, a method that has raised much concerns about if it is cruel and unusual punishment, and whether it goes against the 8th Amendment. Lethal injection replaced the electric chair and the gas chambers, when botched executions took place.

Other methods of execution in other countries is by firing squad, hanging, and even by public stoning. Methods that are outlawed in the USA, and looked upon as barbaric by most people.

Will a high profile figure like that of Saddam Hussein, be executed by hanging? How will this execution take place? Will this be a public hanging? Or will other countries intervene and stop this execution?

Although I personally don't believe in Capital Punishment, I do believe this man should be punished for his horrendous crimes against mankind, and I wait to see if this execution will indeed take place.

He needed to be punished but I believe his execution was completely orchestrated by the US. It was handled poorly.
