Safari or Relax in South Africa

Karen Reams
South Africa is the place to visit especially now with the recent strengthening of the dollar against the rand. There is a lot of value being offered in South Africa.

The Mantis Collection has a fantastic offer where you book two nights at one of its lodges and get three nights in one of its hotels for free. You can book two nights at either Nkomazi Game Reserve , Sanbona Wildlife Reserve , Jock Safari Lodge, Shamwari Game Reserve , or the Oceana Beach and Wildlife Reserve and then a further three nights at either The St James, the Franschhoek, the Long Beach, The Bishops Court or The Constantia. These properties are all located in and around Cape Town.

Another way to find great offers is to look at the guest houses and Bed and Breakfasts in South Africa. Many of these give exceptional value for money. An example of this is the Hideaway Guest House in Kynsna where rates start at $30 pp per night.

If you are looking for a spot that is particularly good for hiking then you wouldn't go far wrong with the Sani Pass Hotel In Himeville in the Drakensberg area which is close to Lesotho. Along with hiking this hotel offers its guests horseback riding, quad biking, golf and fishing. Although only having three stars this hotel is exceptional value and the environment is out of this world.

It is worth taking a look at what Goway Travel has to offer too. One of Goway's strengths is its AfricaExperts division. Goway Travel offer accommodations in all categories ranging from budget to deluxe and because they are always negotiating deals you could end up in luxury accommodation at a budget price.

To give an idea of what Goway travel has to offer let's look at their Best of Africa Tour. This tour takes in much of the whole country starting in Cape Town and going to the Cape Winelands, the Cape Peninsula, the Garden area, Oudtshoorn, Knysna, Port Elizabeth, Durban, Zulu country and Swaziland. You will get a full day safari in Kruger national park and visits to Johannesburg, Pretoria and the Lowveld and Panoroma Route.

This tour starts at the low price of $2,608 pp and this also includes a free Soweto tour.

Some tours also offer a 25% discount for the second traveler.

Goway also offer a really interesting and unusual value packed tour which explores South Africa on the Shongololo Express. The Shongololo Express is a fully serviced traveling hotel train that travels along with its own sightseeing vehicles. During this tour you will travel all night and explore all day. What could be better?
