Safety and Health Tip #1 : Get a Flu Shot and or Pneumonia Shot
Chances are about 50-50 that I get sick every time I get on an airplane. When 300 people get closely packed into a closed air system, you will breath whatever your neighbor sneezes. Senior citizens should get their annual flu and or pneumonia shot and protect themselves from the worst the germs do. Be sure to wash those hands!
Safety and Health Tip #2 : Bring Spare Shoes and Socks
Often when you get your feet wet, some disease will attack you, not the least being fungus. Wet feet are more likely to blister, too. If your feet get wet, change into a clean, dry pair of socks and shoes.
Safety and Health Tip #3 : Protect Yourself From Wilderness Weather Changes
Have an emergency kit in your backpack that includes chocolate, emergency blanket and candle and dress in layers to handle the changes in weather. If you're on the beach, be sure that you have clothing to cover skin that has received too much sun. In the wilderness, wear hiking boots. If you get lost, at least your feet may help get you out. Hikers walking barefoot with no change of clothing might get stuck by flooding rivers.
Safety and Health Tip #4 : Automobile Travelers Should Carry Winter Traction and Other Weather Needs
Prepare your vehicle for unexpected weather by checking your tire pressure, filling up on water and antifreeze, and making sure your traction devices are stored in the care with an emergency kit. Pay attention to how close you follow other vehicles because new rain, black ice, and sudden stops can cause accidents. Be sure to fill up your windshield wiper fluid, it helps clear away mud and keeps visibility clear.
Safety and Health Tip #5 : Be sure to Get an Early Start
As night comes earlier, an early morning start may mean you get where you're going before dark. If you stop at a rest stop, restaurant, or even motel after dark be sure to park where it is well-lit and go with a companion.
Once your safety and health is assured, have a great time.
