Safely Lighting Your Advent Wreath - When it comes to Christmas, there are always traditions that come along with it as well as come before it. One of the main events that are celebrated by many people is Advent. Advent requires a wreath that has candles that get lit; however, some people do not want to have the chance of a fire constantly on their mind.Advent Wreaths are a long time Catholic tradition. Every Advent Wreath is full of symbolism. The evergreens are to represent the crown of thorns. The circular wreath is to represent immortality of the soul and God's everlasting love. There are four candles for the four weeks of Advent. The light of these candles signifies Christ's Light of the World and his return to us. The lighting of the Advent wreath is very important. Due to the fact that the light of the Advent wreath is so important, many people will continually light the wreath, even though they are worried about a fire happening. Well, there are some ways where you still will be able to light your Advent wreath, without the constant worry. For those times when you can't be attending the Advent wreath, these ideas will set your mind at ease.

One thing you could invest in is battery operated candles. They are sold in a lot of different stores. Most of the time they come in white or cream, but you can change that. All you have to do is pick up the color of paint that is needed for your Advent wreath and paint the battery operated candles those colors. From a distance, nobody will be able to tell they are not true candles and you will be able to have the candles lit as long as you want.

Another way that you could do is have a paper wreath instead of a true wreath. You could paste the flames of your advent wreath onto the candles that you have created with your wreath. This is a great way to have fun with your children. It is also a very fun way to get your children more interested about Advent. If they are extremely involved with how the wreath looks and when the flames get pasted onto the wreath, they will remember the importance of Advent.

Light bulbs can be a great way to change your Advent wreath to make if safer. If you simply find the different color of light bulbs that you use for your candles, you will be able to still have the significance of the colors as well as the meaning of the light. A lot of stores carry different colored light bulbs. Your children, as well as yourself, will be able to simply finish screwing in the light bulb to "light" your candle.

You could find someone who knows how to cut wood, or simply buy wooden candles. After you get the wooden candles, you can then paint the candles the colors that they need. For the flame, you would paint it a bright yellow. This would allow you to be able to keep the candles lit for the duration of Advent. Since each week you light a candle, you would change the lighting of the candle to actually placing the candle into the wreath for that week.

The last way you could light your advent wreath safely is to only put in the candles and then use twinkle lights in the wreath. While this does not completely keep to the tradition of lighting you the candles of your Advent Wreath, it does keep with the symbolism behind it. You have your candles of the colors that are needed. The light, while they may not be coming out of the candles is still there signifying the light God gives us. By using twinkle lights, the twinkle looks like the flame dancing, while keeping you and your family safe.
