Safeway O Organics Green Peas Taste Great

These Frozen Peas Tasted Great and I was Glad that I Got Them

I don't normally buy frozen peas all by themselves, but I was shopping in a different grocery store and couldn't find any frozen, mixed vegetables that were organic and on sale. What I did find was a sale on some organic frozen vegetables.

The sale was for two frozen food items for five dollars. So I picked out a bag of Safeway O Organic Petite Broccoli Florets and Safeway O Organic Green Peas. This was not the first time that I had been shopping at Safeway nor was it the first time that I had gotten anything from the O Organics brand. Here is what I thought about their organic green peas.

Prior to getting some of their organic frozen vegetables I had also tried their Organic Whole Wheat Spaghetti, Organic Fuji Apples, Organic Braeburn Apples and even their Diaper Relief Ointment. I was pretty happy with their grocery selection, although I wasn't thrilled about their diaper cream, so I didn't see any reason that I wouldn't be happy with their frozen vegetables. The brand of frozen vegetables that I normally get is Cascadian Farm, and I usually get their Frozen Broccoli Cuts and Florets and Organic Frozen Mixed Vegetables. I actually had some of their mixed vegetables on hand when I made the Safeway O Organic Green Peas so I tasted them side by side. I thought that they were very, very similar but if I had to choose the better one I would have to say that the Safeway green peas were just a hint better.

The Safeway O Organic Green Peas looked very nice when I poured some of the frozen ones in to a pan to steam. I set aside some of them to thaw so I could taste them raw as well. I thought that they had a great taste both thawed and cooked. I was quite pleased with the purchase. The sixteen ounce bag that again cost two dollars and fifty cents held about three and one-third cups of peas. This made one-third of a cup of peas twenty-five cents or every cup seventy-five cents I didn't think that this was a bad sale at all and was glad that I went ahead and got the green peas. It was actually a nice change too having green peas without any carrots or corn along with it. I had hoped that this amount of money had bought me some good looking nutrition facts.

The nutrition facts of the Safeway O Organic Green Peas are based on two-thirds of a cup, or fifty cents worth of organic green peas. Fifty cents bought me seventy calories with only five calories from fat. In addition it also got me one hundred and five milligrams of sodium, twelve grams of carbohydrates, six grams of sugars, five grams of protein and four grams of fiber. The minerals and vitamins section of the nutrition facts states that there was six percent for vitamin A, fifteen percent for vitamin C and four percent for iron in this serving size of peas. I thought that these nutrition facts were very, very pleasing.

I also noticed that on the bag that these peas are a product of Canada. I kind of liked that the peas were grown and packaged in Canada, I hoped that they didn't have too far to travel to get to me in Washington state. All around I was quite pleased with the Safeway O Organic Green Peas and I would buy them again. I would recommend for anyone to try them out for their good nutrition and excellent price. They are even better if you can find them on sale like I did.
